The primary role of this position is develop, manage, and deliver Express Scripts Canada pharmacy benefit management services and programs. The Clinical Pharmacist provides leadership to the Prior Authorization Program and collaborates with cross-functional committees to deliver high quality and clinically sound products and formularies. The role is responsible for contributing specialized clinical knowledge to the direction of existing and new products.

Essential Functions

  • Provide strategic direction and clinical expertise to guide the implementation, communication, education and maintenance of clinical programs and formularies
  • Serve as clinical thought-leader on the Drug Plan Validation Committee, providing knowledge transfer to Express Scripts Canada customers (insurance carriers and third party administrators) on complex clinical topics
  • Provide leadership to the Prior Authorization program and review Prior Authorization requests, including gathering medical information, making coverage decisions, and communicating with patients, physicians or pharmacists as required
  • Interact with internal and external customers to provide insights on pharmacy practice, drug trends, medical advances and legislation
  • Ensure accurate, thorough, and timely documentation of patient status within the operations systems. Comply to ESC policies and procedures to safeguard personal information (PI) and personal health information (PHI).

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy; license to practice pharmacy in a province of Canada
  • Bilingualism (English / French) is an asset.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in direct patient care, drug evaluation, and / or drug information activities
  • Strong working knowledge of MS Office Suite of tools, with database experience a plus
  • Knowledge of the private / public reimbursement or managed care experience would be considered an asset
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, courteously, and tactfully
  • Superior analytical and problem-solving skills to identify opportunities to optimize reimbursement and improve health outcomes
  • Effective facilitation and presentation skills
  • Knowledge and experience in areas of Neurology / Multiple Sclerosis, Rheumatology, Dermatology, Pulmonology, Gastroenterology, Infectious Diseases, or Oncology.
  • Must be self-empowered and self-managed, but also must exhibit teamwork
  • Demonstrated ability to multi-task and adapt in a dynamic fast-paced work environment.

    Responsabilités principales

  • Fournir l’orientation stratégique et l’expertise clinique nécessaires à la mise en œuvre, à la communication et à la gestion des programmes cliniques et des listes de médicaments, et sensibiliser les patients à ce sujet.
  • Agir à titre de spécialiste clinique au sein du comité d’évaluation des régimes d’assurance médicaments, transmettre ses connaissances aux clients d’Express Scripts Canada (assureurs et tiers administrateurs) sur des sujets cliniques complexes.
  • Gérer le programme d’autorisation préalable et examiner les demandes d’autorisation préalable, ce qui comprend la collecte de renseignements médicaux. Prendre les décisions liées à la couverture prévue par un régime et communiquer avec les patients, les médecins ou les pharmaciens, au besoin.
  • Interagir avec les clients internes et externes et leur fournir des renseignements utiles sur l’exercice de la pharmacie, les tendances en matière de médicaments, les progrès de la médecine et les lois.
  • S’assurer que les renseignements sur l’état des patients sont exacts, complets et consignés en temps voulu dans les systèmes de l’entreprise. Respecter les politiques et les méthodes d’Express Scripts Canada visant à protéger les renseignements personnels et les renseignements personnels sur la santé.
  • Qualification

  • Être titulaire d’un baccalauréat en pharmacie et d’un permis d’exercice de la pharmacie dans une province au Canada.
  • Être bilingue (anglais et français) constitue un atout.
  • Posséder un minimum de deux années d’expérience en soins directs aux patients, en évaluation des médicaments et être en mesure de communiquer des renseignements sur les médicaments.
  • Posséder des connaissances approfondies de la suite MS Office. Posséder des connaissances en bases de données constitue un atout.
  • Connaître les dispositions relatives aux remboursements offerts par les régimes privés ou publics ou posséder de l’expérience en gestion de soins de santé constitue un atout.
  • Présenter d’excellentes habiletés interpersonnelles et pouvoir communiquer de façon efficace, polie et avec tact.
  • Posséder des habiletés supérieures en analyse et en résolution de problèmes afin de déceler des occasions pour optimiser le remboursement des médicaments et d’améliorer les résultats sur le plan de la santé des patients.
  • Posséder de bonnes aptitudes en présentation et en animation.
  • Posséder des connaissances et de l’expérience en neurologie ou en sclérose en plaques, en rhumatologie, en dermatologie, en pneumologie, en gastro-entérologie, en maladies infectieuses ou en oncologie.
  • Être autonome, savoir bien gérer son temps et être en mesure de travailler en équipe.
  • Être en mesure d’effectuer plusieurs tâches dans un environnement dynamique et de s’y adapter.
