Qualifications

Job description

Clinical Pharmacist

BC Cancer
Kelowna, BC

BC Cancer Clinical Pharmacists are integral members of multidisciplinary teams supporting cancer treatment and care across British Columbia. This rewarding pharmacy area balances direct patient care, provincial pharmacist consultations, and collaborative care planning, including drug therapy and alternative treatments.

BC Cancer is a global leader in clinical care and research, with Regional Cancer Centres in Victoria, Vancouver, Surrey, Abbotsford, Kelowna, and Prince George. Our Clinical Pharmacists primarily work in specialized oncology practices, providing personalized drug therapy plans, educational services, drug information, and supervising pharmacy students/residents. They also prepare and dispense medications.

What you'll do
  • Personalize drug therapy through patient chart review, clinical response assessment, and collaboration with healthcare providers.
  • Engage with patients and healthcare teams to develop and monitor therapeutic plans, including discharge and outpatient medication plans, and support for alternative and complementary treatments.
  • Prepare and dispense medications, ensuring compliance with legislation.
  • Provide drug information verbally and in writing to healthcare professionals, patients, and the public.
  • Assist with non-BCCA benefit medication provision and financial support options, including compassionate release and emergency aid.
  • Mentor pharmacy students and residents.
What you bring

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Pharmacy, current registration with the College of Pharmacists of British Columbia.
  • Completion of a Hospital Pharmacy Residency Program and at least one year of recent related experience, or equivalent.

You have:

  • Knowledge of aseptic techniques, cytotoxic drug handling, drug information, and individualized therapy strategies.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to work independently.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Physical ability to perform duties and operate related equipment.
  • Skills in CPR techniques.
  • Commitment to Indigenous reconciliation and understanding of related social and cultural issues.
