South Country Co-op is currently hiring a Pharmacist to join our team at the 13th Ave Pharmacy location in Medicine Hat, AB. This position is available as either full-time or part-time.

What You’ll Do

Reporting to the Pharmacy Manager, the Pharmacist is responsible for assisting the Pharmacy Manager with the overall operations of the Pharmacy department. Responsibilities include delivering customer service, ordering and stocking pharmaceuticals, filling prescriptions, and providing information to customers. Our Pharmacists provide patient-focused care, including clinical services, counselling, professional advice on prescriptions and OTC products, and administering injections and immunizations.

  1. Obtain, interpret, and evaluate prescriptions to ensure therapeutic appropriateness, accuracy, and completeness.
  2. Develop and maintain relationships with healthcare professionals to ensure optimal patient care.
  3. Supervise Pharmacy Assistants and Technicians.
  4. Oversee dispensing duties carried out by Pharmacy Assistants to ensure accuracy.
  5. Ensure medication dispensing processes are accurate and well-managed.

Who You Are

You are seeking a career in Pharmacy and:

  • Have a Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy (B.Sc.Phm.) or a Doctorate in Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) from a recognized institution and are registered with the Alberta College of Pharmacy.
  • Preference for those with Additional Prescribing Authority (APA) or willing to obtain it within 6 months.
  • Familiar with the Kroll pharmacy system (preferred).
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel).
  • Strong leadership skills, high integrity, and work ethic.
  • Effective communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Ability to adapt to new technology and work effectively in diverse environments.
  • Flexible, action-oriented, positive, and energetic.
