South Country Co-op is currently hiring a Pharmacist to join our team at the 13th Ave Pharmacy location in Medicine Hat, AB. This position is available as either full-time or part-time.

What You’ll Do

Reporting to the Pharmacy Manager, the Pharmacist is responsible for assisting the Pharmacy Manager with the overall operations of the Pharmacy department. Responsibilities include delivering world-class customer service, ordering and stocking pharmaceuticals, filling patient prescriptions, and providing information to customers. Our Pharmacists provide patient-focused care, including clinical services, counselling, professional advice on prescriptions and OTC products, and administering injections and immunizations.

  • Obtain, interpret, and evaluate all prescriptions to ensure therapeutic appropriateness, cost-effectiveness, accuracy, and completeness.
  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with healthcare professionals in the community to ensure optimal patient care.
  • Supervise Pharmacy Assistants and Technicians.
  • Oversee all dispensing duties carried out by a Pharmacy Assistant to ensure the accuracy and effectiveness of all prescriptions dispensed.
  • Ensure all medication dispensing processes are accurate and appropriately managed.

Who You Are

You are looking for a career in Pharmacy and:

  • You have a Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy (B.Sc.Phm.) or a Doctorate in Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) from a recognized institution and are registered with the Alberta College of Pharmacy.
  • Preference is given to those with Additional Prescribing Authority (APA) designation or willingness to obtain within 6 months of hire.
  • You’re familiar with the Kroll pharmacy system (preferred).
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office programs (including Word, Outlook, and Excel).
  • Strong leadership skills with a high level of integrity and work ethic.
  • Ability to deal with people sensitively, tactfully, diplomatically, and professionally at all times.
  • Ability to adapt to new technology.
  • Ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing.
  • High flexibility with strong interpersonal skills that allow one to work effectively in a diverse environment.
  • Ability to respond quickly in a dynamic and changing environment.
  • Action-oriented with a positive, energetic approach.
