Position Summary

Reporting operationally to the Director, Medicine, Perinatal and Children's Health and professionally to the Director, Professional Practice, the Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS), Cardiac Care is responsible for providing leadership and direction in Cardiac Care, as well as expert advice in nursing, resource planning, program and health system improvement, research, and professional development. The CNS receives direction and reports on professional matters to the Director, Professional Practice. Works with colleagues to achieve excellence in service delivery and patient care. Acts as a liaison between hospitals and community programs to facilitate care integration across the continuum. Leads in planning, developing, and implementing clinical policies and programs to improve patient care and service quality. Responsible for specialty standards of practice, staying current with nursing literature, and promoting research and theory-based autonomous nursing practice. Leads nursing practice advancement through education, communication, research, and support for quality and utilization initiatives. Provides leadership and expert consultation to team members, healthcare staff, patients, families, and significant others. Collaborates with Clinical Managers, Medical Directors, Educators, Nurse Clinicians, staff nurses, and other interdisciplinary team members.

Starting salary ranges from $106,026 to $132,533, depending on education, experience, and comparable positions.

University Hospital of Northern BC (UHNBC) is the largest acute care facility (268 beds) in Northern Health, serving as a hub for specialized health services, including a new cancer center and undergraduate medical training through the Northern Medical Program. Qualifications

  • Master's degree in nursing and current registration as a Registered Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).
  • At least five (5) years of recent experience in a healthcare setting focused on cardiac care, including leadership roles.
  • Canadian Nurses Association certification in cardiac care or membership in related professional associations preferred.
