Summary

Clinical Nurse Leader – Youville Residence

Youville Residence is a long-term care home for 42 residents located in Vancouver. Guided by our Home for Us model—Providence’s groundbreaking initiative that reimagines long-term care—we support resident autonomy and emotional, social, and spiritual well-being.

Providence Health Care is a Catholic, non-profit health care organization that operates several facilities in Vancouver, including Youville Residence. Our long-term care homes are compassionate communities committed to transforming residents’ care. We foster emotional connection, promote resident independence, and provide meaningful opportunities for staff development and growth.

This is a regular part-time position (0.70 FTE), working 26.25 hours per week.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinates the day-to-day operations of a designated nursing unit to ensure smooth and efficient delivery of care

  • Supervises and supports nursing and care staff in their daily responsibilities

  • Acts as a clinical resource to nursing staff and interdisciplinary team members in the provision of direct resident care

  • Collaborates with the Operations Leader to identify staff development needs and interests

  • Facilitates staff orientation and ongoing educational programs

  • Contributes to research, quality improvement, and evidence-informed practice initiatives within the care team

What You Bring

Education & Training

  • Current registration with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM) as a practicing Registered Nurse (RN) registrant.

Qualifications required of a Staff Nurse in the applicable clinical area.

  • Minimum three (3) years of recent related experience in the clinical specialty, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

For Clinical Nurse Leader vacancies in Mental Health Services and Extended and Intermediate Care Services:

    • Positions will be dual posted for Registered Nurse (RN) / Registered Psychiatric Nurse (RPN).

    • Requires current practicing registration with the BCCNM as a practicing RN or RPN registrant.

Your Day to Day:

  • Coordinate day-to-day patient/resident care activities, including supervising staff, monitoring performance, and managing work assignments.
  • Monitor patient/resident acuity and adjust staffing levels as needed.
  • Act as a clinical resource, providing guidance on procedures and troubleshooting clinical issues.
  • Participate in rounds/clinics, assisting with patient/resident assessment and intervention planning.
  • Facilitate consultations with physicians and other healthcare professionals as needed.
  • Advocate for patients/residents and their families by addressing concerns and facilitating communication with the care team.
  • Provide direct nursing care as part of a patient/resident assignment.
  • Assist in developing and delivering orientation and educational programs for staff.
  • Collaborate on identifying learning needs and implementing educational strategies.
  • Review and provide feedback on policies, procedures, and reference materials.
  • Support the Operations Leader in staff performance planning and coaching.
  • Participate in research initiatives and help apply findings to practice.
  • Offer input on equipment, supplies, and staffing requirements.
  • Contribute to quality improvement initiatives and process evaluations.
