Job Description:

Reporting directly to the Director, Professional Practice, the Health Disciplines Practice Manager will lead a team of Professional Practice Leaders (PPLs) and Spiritual Care Practitioners. They will support clinical teams with expertise, best practices, and standards of care from bedside to boardroom. The Manager will ensure access to quality, professional spiritual care respecting diverse backgrounds.

The Manager will oversee practice development across health disciplines at THP and support discipline-specific committees in advancing initiatives related to practice standards, models of care, recruitment, retention, and professional development to ensure safe, effective, and efficient patient care. The ideal candidate will have previous management experience, excel in operational effectiveness, be committed to patient-centered design, and be passionate about transforming the workplace environment within an interprofessional setting. They will collaborate with various teams and build relationships with internal and external partners.

Leadership Responsibilities:

  • Manage resources effectively in line with the hospital’s strategic plan.
  • Oversee and promote quality care delivery with Clinical Educators.
  • Utilize performance data for decision-making and quality improvement.
  • Support HD professional practice, development, and education as a resource and advocate.
  • Handle employee relations, including HR planning, recruitment, onboarding, performance reviews, coaching, and professional growth.
  • Support development of professional practice initiatives within and outside THP.
  • Explore funding and educational opportunities for non-nursing disciplines.
  • Build and maintain relationships with community faith leaders and support spiritual care processes.
  • Develop practices to improve patient experiences through staff education and training.
  • Lead the Better Together Allied Awards resource initiative.
  • Champion a shared governance approach.
  • Design and implement initiatives aligned with strategic and workforce plans.
  • Oversee interprofessional team projects and planning.
  • Partner with services like CRT, Quality, Risk, Medical Affairs, L&OD, and CSI to align practice activities and metrics.

Qualifications:

  • Regulated Health Professional in Ontario in good standing.
  • Master’s degree preferred (e.g., Allied Health, Health Administration, Leadership, Quality).
  • At least three (3) years of leadership experience in clinical operations, preferably in a hospital.
  • Excellent performance and attendance record.
  • Strong communication skills—oral, written, and non-verbal.
  • Ability to navigate ambiguity in a complex, fast-paced environment.
  • Experience with quality improvement methodologies.
  • Proven success in managing workplace change and culture transformation.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to handle multiple priorities.
  • Ability to implement and sustain best practices for high-quality, safe care.
  • Commitment to fostering an inclusive, collaborative environment.
  • Proven coaching, mentoring, leadership, and resilience skills.
