The Position
An exciting Full Time, Clinical Manager, Peri-Operative Services opportunity is available at Women's College Hospital.
The Clinical Manager will serve as the inspirational leader for their team (s). They will have experience in health care leadership and will demonstrate an approachable leadership style that is adaptable to the internal and external changes that impact the program(s).
The Clinical Manager will demonstrate leadership competencies in interpersonal communication, customer service, diversity management, conflict management, human resource management, interpersonal skills, negotiation and influence, self-management, knowledge translation, project development/implementation, career specific expertise and teamwork. The Clinical Manager’s leadership must also include experience in change management and understanding the human side of change.
Summary of duties but not limited to:
- In collaboration with the interdisciplinary perioperative services team, builds a culture that is focused on ensuring safety and best practices while delivering high levels of patient satisfaction
- Develops and manages budget (capital and operating) requirements and identifies human resources necessary to execute departmental plans.
- Works collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders, to plan and co-ordinate the implementation of new and innovative programs and services with outcome focused on excellence in patient care and fiscal responsibilities.
- In collaboration with the Clinical Director(s), Department Head(s), Medical Leader(s) and key stakeholders, ensures that programs and services are aligned with the organization’s strategic plan
- Develops the annual operational and capital budget (in collaboration with the Clinical Director(s) and Financial Business Partner), for the utilization of resources, including staff, equipment, supplies and space.
- Reviews and evaluates the budget with the healthcare team to ensures efficient and consistent service delivery for the program(s) /service(s), including effective utilization of resources (e.g., staffing and equipment).
- Manages and develops human resources to ensure the department operates in a manner that is efficient and responsive.
- Identifies, determines and evaluates skill mix of staff to ensure consistency with the goals of the program/services.
- Collaborates with the Clinical Director(s) and health care team, including Human Resources, in the development and implementation of staff recruitment and retention strategies.
- Recruits, interviews, hires and ensure new staff are receive appropriate orientation
- Develop weekly staff schedules, vacation approvals and authorize payroll.
- Establishes and monitors performance expectations and takes appropriate action when expectations are not met and/or exceeded, in collaboration with Human Resources as required.
- Establishes and ensures the adherence to policy and procedures.
- Ensures a continuous focus on an excellent patient experience by developing an open process to respond to patient care issues that include participation of the health care team.
- As a role model and champion, you will work to identify and integrate safe, best practices into daily activities to foster the delivery of safe and exemplary care.

Qualifications
- Successful completion of an undergraduate degree in Health Sciences such as Nursing or other recognized health care discipline required; Masters’ degree preferred.
- Current registration in good standing with a Regulatory College (related to a given health profession)
- Experience working in a hospital environment and previous Operating Room experience required
- Five (5) years’ experience in a leadership capacity is preferred.
- Excellent management and strategic planning skills required.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills required.
- Change orientedand possess an attitude of continuous improvement.
- Ability to effectively handle a large number of issues/projects simultaneously and work well under pressure.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills required.
- Ability to use good judgment in assessing difficult situations.
- Ability to take a creative and proactive approach to problem recognition, solving and conflict resolution.
- Ability to work in a self-directed manner as well as the ability to work effectively as a team member.
- Collaborative and client service oriented with the ability to effectively work with a diverse group of colleagues.
