Are you an experienced clinician looking for an exciting new challenge? We are seeking a Clinical Lead to support the district nursing team in the Cambridge East Locality.

Core Hours: 08.00-18.00 (main shifts: 08.00-16.00 or 10.00-18.00).

Qualifications: The ideal candidate will be an RGN Level 1, educated to degree level or with equivalent experience, and hold a relevant post-registration qualification in community practice.

Attributes: Strong teamwork ethic, sense of accountability, ability to work under pressure. Open to registered nurses with the right attributes to enhance a team.

Main duties of the job

As a Clinical Lead, you will work autonomously, taking responsibility for care, quality, and clinical activity within our Community Nursing Teams. You will provide advanced nursing leadership, clinical advice, and guidance, focusing on healthcare quality.

You will clinically lead and support the team to recognize, prioritize, and respond appropriately, ensuring delivery of effective services that meet the needs of individuals, families, and communities in line with local and national plans, policies, and procedures.

Job responsibilities

Travel Requirements: Must hold a full UK driving license and have access to a vehicle, as public transport is not reliable for this role. Confirm this in your application.

Responsibilities include:

  1. Leading clinical assessment, diagnosis, management, and treatment of community patients.
  2. Using advanced skills to develop comprehensive, patient-centered care plans.
  3. Initiating and providing advanced clinical treatments based on evidence to improve outcomes.
  4. Identifying subtle changes in patient conditions early and managing them proactively.
  5. Teaching and developing staff to manage capacity and complexity.
  6. Investigating serious incidents and embedding learning within the team.
  7. Collaborating with team members, providers, and GPs to enable patients to live independently with dignity.
  8. Promoting self-management and use of technology in patient care.
  9. Participating in clinical supervision, training, and professional development.
  10. Maintaining competence through portfolio evidence and staying updated on care trends and policies.
  11. Providing health promotion, disease prevention advice, and environmental health interventions.
  12. Identifying learning needs and contributing to educational programs.
  13. Developing workforce capability using clinical expertise.
  14. Evaluating nursing practices and leading quality improvement initiatives.
  15. Supporting change management and inter-agency collaboration.
  16. Leading on quality assurance, audits, and data utilization to improve outcomes.
  17. Ensuring consistent clinical updates and professional development support.
  18. Partnering with primary care and other disciplines within the neighborhood teams.
  19. Supervising Band 6 nurses, fostering a reflective and learning environment.
  20. Mentoring students and supporting staff development.

Person Specification

Education / Qualifications

  • Degree or equivalent experience
  • Post-registration community practice qualification
  • Evidence of ongoing professional development
  • Advanced assessment qualification (willing to undertake within 12 months)
  • Non-medical prescriber (willing to undertake within 12 months)
  • MSc study willingness
  • Teaching qualification

Experience

  • Community nursing experience
  • Mentoring/teaching experience

Salary: £46,148 to £52,809 per annum (pro-rata)
