The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at BC Children’s and BC Women’s Hospitals is seeking a qualified and motivated Clinical Laboratory Geneticist with excellent communication skills.
You will collaborate with the Division’s Head and medical staff, providing case interpretation, technical oversight, compliance monitoring, test development, and participating in quality and administrative committees. You will also be engaged in academic activities if appointed to the UBC Clinical Faculty.
The Tier F Department provides diagnostic care for BC’s perinatal women, infants, and children, including specialty laboratories. The Division focuses on diagnosing inherited diseases using genetic and genomic approaches and is advancing genome-wide sequencing.
The successful candidate will be an experienced clinical Laboratory Geneticist with expertise in constitutional genetic and genomic testing, holding a PhD in Genetics or related field. Certification or eligibility for certification in Molecular Genetics, Cytogenetics, or GGD by CCMG is required. Preference for candidates with experience in both molecular and cytogenetics or a minimum of 3 years’ clinical laboratory experience.
Applicants must be eligible for CCMG certification; ongoing certification is required for employment. Priority is given to Canadians and permanent residents. Salary and rank depend on qualifications and experience.
