Preference will be given to qualified regular part-time employees within the bargaining unit at Sheridan College. Should a suitable candidate not be found, external candidates will be considered.

Reporting to the Operations Manager of Clinics and Labs, the incumbent will support faculty and students in the Clinical Kinesiology labs and internal placement.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Supporting and assisting lab instructors and students in assigned lab classes;
  • Supporting and assisting students during open practice times
  • Assist in exercise instruction in a strength training setting;
  • Assist in prescribing exercise for individuals with diverse needs;
  • Assist in performing physiological testing for diverse populations;
  • Role-modeling professional behavior;
  • Supporting and assisting with simulations including both set up and take down of equipment;
  • Maintaining lab equipment which includes reporting any broken or damaged equipment;
  • Preparing labs with all necessary equipment and materials;
  • Ensuring the lab is clean, safe and organized;
  • Promoting and conducting safe lab practices;
  • Assisting with practical lab exams and open lab practice;
  • Attending lab meetings when scheduled;
  • Overseeing internal field placement;
  • Performing other related duties as assigned.

The Successful Candidate Will Also Meet The Following Requirements

  • A University Degree in Kinesiology, Human Kinetics or equivalent;
  • A Registered Kinesiologist (R.Kin), a Certified Exercise Physiologist (CEP) and/or a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) and/or Certified Athletic Therapist (CAT(C)) in good standing;
  • A minimum of 3 years working in a clinical/exercise setting, where exercise testing and prescription was performed on apparently healthy and individuals with chronic disease;
  • Current CPR and First Aid certification;
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills as well as the ability to work independently and in a team environment.

Hourly Rate: $30.64 + 4% in lieu of benefits and vacation.

Hours/Week: 24 hours

Hours: Monday – Friday; hours range from 8:00am – 8:00pm (shifts to be determined upon hire and will vary depending on availability)
