Acute Care Alberta seeks a Clinical Informatician to lead customization, development, implementation, management, evaluation, and continuous improvement of clinical information systems. You will apply clinical expertise to enhance medication-related data and support safe, effective patient care.

Join the Pharmacy Informatics team as a Subject Matter Operational Readiness Expert (SMORE). Reporting to the Pharmacy Systems Standards & Support Manager, you will lead decisions on configuring technology related to medication-related data and knowledge, including EPIC and Warehouse Management System (WMS). The expertise provided by SMOREs ensures that system configuration focuses on optimal medication-related patient care and health outcomes consistent with the mission and vision of Pharmacy Alberta. As the bridge between business and technical, SMOREs lead investigations into informatics-related issues, collaborate with analyst teams to explore configuration options and develop innovative solutions and recommendations. SMOREs also establish effective working relationships and are key liaisons between Pharmacy Services and other provincial teams. They collaborate with clinical and technical partners to investigate medication-related issues, facilitate decision-making and ensure configuration aligns with the business and operational needs of Pharmacy Alberta and organizations. SMOREs work with Zonal and Provincial Operational Pharmacy teams to balance their program-specific issues with the shared goal of standardized Pharmacy services. SMOREs prioritize identified issues, work with team leads towards resolution of the issue and offer support in change management planning related to informatics initiatives and system decisions. Key skills required include effective communication, strong interpersonal abilities, creative problem-solving, and adaptability. Work hours are generally during weekdays, but occasional shifts outside these hours may be required. The position is remote, so you can work from any location across Alberta. Although posted for a Calgary site, remote work is acceptable.
As a Clinical Informatician, you will lead or participate in the customization, development, implementation, management, evaluation, and continuous improvement of clinical information systems. You will develop and deploy information and systems solutions, drawing on expert clinical experience, and knowledge from their health discipline. Working in the field of Clinical Health Informatics will require you to incorporate the application of information technology to facilitate the creation and use of health related data, informatics aspects of safe, efficient, and effective health services for all Canadians.
Completion of bachelor's degree in a health related field.Active registration with the applicable professional association or college.
Diploma from accredited Pharmacy Technician program or bachelor’s degree in health-related discipline.Active registration as a Pharmacy Technician with ACP or applicable professional association/college.Current/recent work experience as a pharmacy technician in Alberta Health Services, Covenant Health Services, Cancer Care Alberta, and/or Acute Care Alberta.Minimum five (5) years recent hospital pharmacy experience.Current or recent experience with pharmacy clinical information support as a SMORE (Subject Matter Operational Readiness Expert with ACA Performance & Systems Integration Team), SKOR (Subject Knowledge Operational Readiness member supporting the Pharmacy Connect project), Pharmacy SACI (Senior Analyst Clinical Informatics), Pharmacy Applications leader/team member, Zone Operations Coordinator, or Pharmacy Connect Care Implementation Lead.Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly to varied audiences.Effective collaboration and consensus-building skills with multidisciplinary teams.Demonstrated expertise and ability to:Foster partnerships with partners inside and outside of Pharmacy.Work within a team environment and independently on assigned tasks.Experience leading or supporting provincial or multi-site initiatives.Prioritize workload and multiple projects on an ongoing basis to meet the needs of a dynamic work environment.
