Job summary

University Health Network in Toronto General Hospital is seeking a Software Developer, Genome Diagnostics Informatics to support software, databases, applications, interfaces, and informatics workflows enabling clinical genomic testing.

The initial focus is to design, build, validate, document, and deploy software solutions for genome diagnostics laboratory operations, including tracking, workflow automation, data management, reporting, and LIMS integration.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, development, testing, validation, documentation, and deployment of software applications, databases, GUIs, APIs, reporting tools to support Genome Diagnostics laboratory operations.
• Develop and enhance applications for laboratory tracking, workflow automation, data management, quality control, operational reporting, and clinical testing workflows.
• Build and maintain interfaces between systems to enable integration with Laboratory Information Management Systems and related clinical or operational systems.
• Gather requirements from laboratory, scientific, clinical, bioinformatics, and operational stakeholders and translate into practical solutions.
• Identify manual processes suitable for automation and implement appropriate technical solutions.
• Perform systems analysis, estimate timelines, and contribute to prioritization of software development activities.
• Write clean, maintainable code with version control, unit tests, CI, and documented development practices.
• Deploy updates to development, staging, and production environments; troubleshoot issues and provide user support.
• Create and maintain developer docs, technical specs, user guides, validation docs, and SOPs.
