• Clinical Extern- Respiratory Therapy- Temporary Full Time

Summary of Position:

Located in beautiful Sault Ste Marie, Ontario, SAH provides primary, secondary, and select tertiary services to residents in Sault Ste. Marie and the District of Algoma. The Clinical Extern is a learner employed as an unregulated care provider working under the supervision of a regulated care provider. Externs will have varying levels of knowledge, skills, and judgment based on their education and experience.

Job Duty – Patient Care:

• Provide patient care under the supervision of a Regulated Health Professional (RHP), adhering to organizational policies and professional standards within the scope of the position.
• Request assistance when needed and notify team members of any changes or concerns regarding patient condition.
• Assist with patient care, supported by the RRT, demonstrating the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities. Key activities include:
• Supporting high-quality care for patients and families under the direction of an RRT.
• Supporting a positive patient and family experience.
• Applying foundational knowledge of respiratory therapy principles, equipment, supplies, medical gas management, cleaning, calibration, and non-clinical support tasks.

Staffing and Licensing Requirements:

• Enrolled in the second or third year of an accredited Respiratory Therapy diploma program.
• Maintains good academic standing.
