Clinical Educator - Acute Floor

The closing date is 27 July 2025

The post holder will be a proactive role model who will work to support the provision of clinical education with the existing Senior Clinical Educator across both acute floors. They will work to deliver training and education requirements for staff within the designated clinical area, including mandatory training. The post holder will ensure new Nursing Team members receive appropriate role-specific training, maintain up-to-date competency assessments, and keep accurate training records.

Responsibilities also include planning and monitoring staff development within the Preceptorship and appraisal frameworks, ensuring comprehensive induction programs for new staff, and conducting training needs analyses for the acute floors. The post holder will lead on achieving corporate objectives related to the nursing and midwifery workforce. They will work within the clinical area alongside staffing requirements, except in exceptional circumstances.

Main duties of the job

See JD - The post holder will lead clinical education and skills training, creating and planning educational programs to meet clinical needs. They will assess clinical competencies in areas such as:

  • IV therapies
  • Nutritional support
  • Preceptorship
  • Induction planning & facilitation
  • Clinical skills mapping
  • Support and supervision of newly registered staff
  • Implementation of the band 5 competency document
  • Development of the Nursing Associate role
