Alberta Health Services is seeking a Clinical Educator to enhance the training of EMS personnel. This position encompasses developing learning programs, leading training initiatives, and ensuring competency assessments. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in advanced paramedic care, adult education, and project management.
Your Opportunity:
Alberta Health Services (AHS) Emergency Medical Services (EMS) requires a Clinical Educator (CE). The primary objective of the CE is to deliver training to EMS direct delivery staff, project management, and direction in areas such as transfer of learning, curriculum development, simulation, clinical support, and other portfolios that support EMS Learning & Development. Travel within the zone and to other zones may be required. Primarily working weekdays, the Clinical Educator may be required on occasion to work weekends and evenings as well.
Description:
As an EMS Clinical Educator, you will identify, develop, implement, and deliver various training programs and initiatives, monitor the transfer of learning into actual practice, support the competency assessment process of EMS practitioners, and provide ongoing learning and development support to EMS personnel. Facilitation modalities include lecture, e-learning, simulation, and real-time situation-specific coaching and mentoring.
Alberta Health Services EMS requires proof of successful completion of the Functional Abilities Recruitment Evaluation (F.A.R.E.) test via the certificate provided by Lifemark for all applicants external to AHS or internal to AHS who do not already hold a clinical position within AHS EMS (VESST, Clinical Educator, EMR, PCP, ACP, and Community Paramedic). Your F.A.R.E. test must be completed six (6) months prior to your application date. Alberta Health Services EMS may verify results with Lifemark to ensure successful completion. Required Qualifications: Completion of an accredited Alberta College of Paramedics (ACP) Advanced Care Paramedic program, active registration with ACP, valid Class 4 Alberta Operator's Licence with no more than six demerits, current BCLS-HCP, and recent F.A.R.E. test within six months.
Additional Qualifications: Minimum five years of field experience as an Advanced Care Paramedic, experience in adult education, and ability to perform full duties of an Advanced Care Paramedic in the field. Equivalent healthcare qualifications may be considered.
Preferred Qualifications: Post-secondary education in related fields, instructor certifications (ACLS, PALS, NRP, etc.), project management certification, and skills in AV/software, curriculum development, and instructional design.
