Position: Clinical Coordinator for Operating Room

This individual will be responsible for the coordination and monitoring of activities that promote clinically effective and efficient patient care. The Clinical Coordinator will also monitor nursing staff activities to meet patients' needs in collaboration with the Operating Room interprofessional team and cross-departmental teams.

Employment Status: Permanent Full-Time

Hours of Work: Monday to Friday (07:00-15:00 and/or 11:00-19:00) - subject to change as per Management Rights

Location: Humber River Health, Wilson Site

Labour Group: Non Union

Reporting Relationship: Manager, Operating Room & Cysto Suites

Position Responsibilities:

• Providing high quality, effective, efficient and safe patient services through human, environmental and financial resources management.
• Managing day to day processes in the Operating Room that enable the delivery of high quality services to meet patient needs and expectations.
• Organizing and coordinating the activities of the Operating Room and related clinical areas, including nursing and ancillary staff activities to meet patient needs and in collaboration with members of the Operating Rooms.
• Coordinating the scheduling of operating rooms and surgical cases.
• Organizing and coordinating the daily staffing assignments including RNs, RPNs, OR Aides and Housekeeping.
• Working with the Manager and the CPL to facilitate the support and development of staff to achieve advanced clinical practice standards.
• Implementing internal linkages and coordinating services in response to the needs of the patients.
• Ensuring that adherence to Hospital policies and procedures and professional standards are maintained by all staff.
• Providing leadership and consultation to staff in the development, implementation and evaluation of related projects and initiatives.
• Acting as an expert resource to the clinical members of the Operating Rooms.

Qualifications:

• Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario required.
• A minimum of 3 years peri-operative services experience required.
• A high level of recent clinical and technical knowledge as it relates to the operating room.
• Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing or other related health-related discipline.
• Operating Room Certification with the Canadian Nurses Association is preferred.
• Ability to prioritize with proven problem solving and effective communication skills.
• Demonstrated commitment to professional practice standards and patient care needs.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
• Excellent attendance and discipline-free record required.
