Job description

Synaptive Medical is a Canadian medical device company based in downtown Toronto, focused on supporting healthcare professionals and systems in patient diagnosis and treatment. Synaptive’s suite of products includes MRI, surgical planning, navigation, and robotic visualization, which can be seamlessly combined or used independently in the operating room. The Opportunity

The Clinical Applications Specialist (CAS) is a vital part of Synaptive Medical. The CAS provides primary on-site clinical support for Synaptive’s surgical technologies by acting as a knowledgeable and highly skilled technical resource in the hospital operating room. The CAS manages assigned accounts actively, contributes to regional and national coverage, drives customer engagement, supports commercial success, and maintains good corporate citizenship.

What You’ll Do
  1. Pursue excellence in clinical support
    • Support all Synaptive surgical technologies inside and outside the operating room
    • Deliver training and coaching on Synaptive surgical technology pre-operatively and intra-operatively to surgeons and hospital staff
    • Provide frontline technical support in collaboration with the field service team
    • Work with hospital IT staff to test and enable connectivity of Synaptive’s surgical technology in the OR
    • Build relationships with stakeholders (neurosurgeons, RNs, schedulers, administration) as a clinical, technical, and business resource
  2. Drive clinical adoption and surgeon/resident engagement of Synaptive products at accounts
  3. Identify and support co-marketing opportunities at assigned accounts
  4. Support commercial success
    • Identify, communicate, and facilitate sales leads to the commercial team
    • Support sales activities in collaboration with the team
  5. Drive team and self-improvement
    • Train, mentor, and support teammates
    • Engage in professional growth and process improvements
  6. Maintain proper documentation for compliance
  7. Manage Voice-of-Customer feedback to leadership and teams
  8. Complete administrative tasks accurately and timely
  9. Participate in performance management activities and meetings
  10. Perform other duties as needed to meet organizational goals
  11. Travel up to 60% annually, with short notice travel as required
  12. Maintain a 1-hour on-call response time for about 10 days per month
What You’ll Need
  • Bachelor of Science degree or equivalent experience
  • Problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure
  • Strong communication skills
  • Attention to detail and customer satisfaction focus
  • Valid Canadian or USA passport and driver’s license
  • 1-3 years healthcare experience, with medical device training background
  • Operating room experience and familiarity with robotics, navigation, and optics
  • Experience with medical software, PACS, DICOM, and intraoperative modalities
  • Knowledge of neurobiology and white matter connectivity is a plus
  • Experience in fast-paced healthcare environments and with disruptive technologies
  • Experience in training program development and delivery

Physical and Other Requirements

Regularly required to communicate verbally and listen. Frequently sit, reach, stand, walk, and handle objects. Must lift/move up to 50 pounds. Work environment includes hospital settings with appropriate PPE. Must be able to work in clinical environments and handle exposure to OR conditions.
