Are you a Registered Nurse or an International Medical Graduate (IMG)? The Medical Services Department is looking for an energetic, self-motivated individual who is interested in using their medical and administrative skills in a fast paced, professional environment.The ability to review and analyze both medical and claim information is pivotal in the Clinical Advisor PCI job.

Your Clinical Advisor PCI responsibilities:

  • Review all incoming Permanent Clinical Impairment (PCI) requests to determine whether referrals qualify for PCI evaluation.

  • Provide oversight of cases entering the PCI process, identifying missing documents or entitlement.

  • Triage the incoming PCI requests to the appropriate evaluation path – Scheduled Award, Documentary PCI, Physiotherapy Exam (PCI - PT), Medical Consultant Rating Evaluation (MCRE), or Specialist Exam.

  • Create documents with the required information to facilitate PCI rating for Scheduled Awards and PCI-PT evaluations.

  • Create and maintain records of the PCI evaluation process.

  • Provide support, coaching and consultation to Customer Service (CS) staff regarding the PCI process.

  • Work collaboratively with multiple stakeholders to address ongoing change in the PCI process.

Your experience and skills:

  • Diploma/Degree in Nursing, Medicine (IMG).

  • Minimum 5 years related experience in a health care or in a disability management environment.

  • Current knowledge of injury types, healing times, treatment, and rehabilitation approaches/principles.

  • Extensive knowledge of WCA and WCB Alberta policies, procedures, processes and WCB structure.

  • Current knowledge and understanding of the WCB PCI process.

  • Knowledge of WCB Act and access in other jurisdictions.

  • Knowledge of privacy legislation affecting practice.

  • Demonstrated statistical experience using Microsoft Office tools.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, as well as conflict resolution and negotiation skills.

  • Strong organizational skills are essential in this role.

Salary: $73,648 to $86,627 per annum (Pay Grade 10)

This position is temporary for a period of up to one year with the possibility of extension or permanency. Final candidates for this position are required to undergo a security clearance as a condition of employment. Successful candidate must reside in Alberta and be able to work in person in our Edmonton downtown office as required by their position.
