Position Summary

The focus of the Client Consultant is to support ASEBP school boards and education sector associations in their role as benefit plan administrators. Through engagement and consultation, the Client Consultant builds and maintains strong relationships, facilitates, and supports collaborative problem-solving, and ensures clients understand the value of ASEBP offerings and the strategic mandate of our organization. This role applies a solid understanding of ASEBP’s strategic direction, policies and operational processes, and acts as a broker to other business units within ASEBP when working with clients to meet the needs of their employees and of their organization.

Your Key Responsibilities

Build and maintain strong working relationships with clients throughout Alberta.

  • Ensure clients’ leadership are informed about the benefit plan services and other offerings they are receiving and upcoming innovations and changes that may impact them.
  • Facilitate and implement employer plan design changes, including new business.
  • Analyze and provide consultation on benefit utilization reporting.
  • Develop, coordinate and facilitate strategic meetings with clients including two formal engagements per year.
  • Ensure clients are informed of and understand ASEBP’s strategic direction and plan design changes, providing subject matter expertise.
  • Listen, interpret and respond professionally to inquiries about ASEBP’s benefits and services.
  • Represent ASEBP at relevant (client-focused) conferences and events through the provision of presentations, workshops or hosting of exhibits.

Support the understanding and decision-making of ASEBP leadership and teams by effective gathering, analysis, and presentation of client feedback.

  • Facilitate discussions with internal ASEBP teams and develop the agenda for strategic meetings with clients.
  • Communicate and collaborate openly and inclusively with internal and external stakeholders, articulating key points in both written and verbal communication.
  • Participates in internal meetings with other client facing teams to keep a finger on the pulse of client issues.
  • Research and provide sound analysis of industry trends through identification of critical connections and patterns.
  • Lead and/or participate in projects, discussions and development of communication strategies impacting clients or ASEBP covered members.
  • Advocate for clients by recommending plan design changes and service offerings.

Your Education And Experience

  • Completion of a university degree in a related field.
  • Five or more years of experience within a client-focused service industry or insurance and/or benefits administration industry.

A combination of education and experience may be considered.

Your Abilities

  • Consultation experience with clients in determining and resolving issues.
  • Ability to adequately assess client needs and provide appropriate information and advisory support.
  • Ability to translate client needs into comprehensive and strategic solutions.
  • Demonstrated experience and ability to understand and communicate business processes and policies.
  • Results driven with strong problem solving and decision-making ability.
  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills with the ability to effectively communicate with all levels of leadership.
  • Strong computer skills with an ability to work proficiently with Microsoft Office products.
  • Demonstrated experience in the development and delivery of presentations and group information sessions utilizing various learning styles with varying audiences.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Strong collaboration skills.
  • Strong facilitation skills.
  • Ability to think strategically, considering client and organizational priorities.

Unique Working Conditions

You will be working with clients across the province, so travel is required in this role. This position is eligible to participate in the hybrid workforce program.
