Division: Children and Social Services

Department: Community Development

Initial Reporting Location: 199 Larch Street

Job Status: Limited Regular Part Time Position - (Bilingual - English/French)

Estimated Probable Duration: Up to Eighteen (18) Months

Number of Vacancies: 1

Affiliation: CUPE 4705 Inside Unit

Hours of Work: Up to 48 hours bi-weekly

Shift Work Required: N/A

Range of Pay: Group 6 - $27.20 to $31.98 per hour

The start date will follow the selection process.

Characteristic Duties:
  1. Respond to general enquiries from clients, the public, and agencies, and refer to appropriate contacts.
  2. Keep records as required. Arrange appointments and meetings.
  3. Receive, pick-up, file, and distribute documents as needed.
  4. Maintain filing systems.
  5. Perform keyboarding and data entry tasks.
  6. Organize and maintain inventory of forms and office supplies.
  7. Review case files for retention and destroy outdated materials as directed.
  8. Introduce new employees and students to job functions as needed.
  9. Develop and maintain knowledge of CGS's Safety Manual and Provincial Legislation.
  10. Perform other related duties as required.
Qualifications:
  1. Secondary School (Grade XII) Education.
  2. 6 to 12 months of related experience.
  3. Satisfactory keyboarding skills (minimum 40 WPM).
  4. Interpersonal skills for courteous public interaction.
  5. Proficiency with microcomputer software and administrative systems.
  6. Excellent English communication skills, both verbal and written.
  7. Verbal French skills and good written French knowledge.
  8. Satisfactory health, attendance, and employment history.
  9. Physical ability to operate a vehicle, valid driver’s license, and acceptable driving record (asset).
Competencies:

Level 1 proficiency from the Competency Library.

This position may be filled as a development opportunity if no fully qualified candidate is available. The development pay range is $26.68 to $30.82 per hour, with the successful candidate initially paid at the lower end until qualifications are met.
