Responsibilities

Duties include but are not limited to: receiving and interviewing patients; pre-admission, pre-screening, admission, discharge & transfer functions; day surgery/outpatient/ED registrations; maintaining bed status records; liaising with the patient care resource coordinator and nurse manager; health card validation; obtaining signatures; handling sensitive situations; and general clerical duties.

Qualifications
  • Medical Office Administration Diploma or equivalent; knowledge through experience.
  • Experience with hospital information systems and word processing.
  • Experience with at least two Meditech Modules (Admissions, Scheduling, ED Management, Order Entry).
  • Admitting/Registration experience preferred.
  • Typing speed of at least 40 w.p.m. (testing required).
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and spelling.
  • Ability to work independently in a busy environment with good public relations skills while maintaining confidentiality.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks.
  • Reliable attendance, punctuality, and performance required.
