Safeway Canmore is seeking a part-time or full-time Clerk to join our Deli HMR department. The responsibilities include stocking shelves, preparing hot and ready-to-serve meals, sandwiches, flatbreads, pizzas, shaved and cut deli meats, cheeses, and party platters; rotating products, culling for freshness, and providing outstanding customer service. The candidate will receive training and have opportunities for career progression, along with a competitive starting wage. A Day in the Life of a Deli Clerk

Our Deli clerks ensure customers find fresh hot and ready-to-eat meals. Food safety is a priority, and full training is provided.

Experience

No previous experience required.

Key Responsibilities

• Uphold company procedures, standards, and policies.
• Greet customers politely and provide excellent service.
• Process payments via cash, cheque, credit card, gift card, and debit.
• Offer samples to customers.
• Prepare hot and cold foods, including sandwiches, chickens, salads, soups, and trays.
• Operate commercial equipment like slicers, fryers, and ovens.
• Write product orders, receive, and rotate products.
• Fill product showcases.

Job Requirements

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Ability to learn quickly and work in a fast-paced environment.
• Motivated, team-oriented, and good communication skills.
• Strong customer service qualities and safety awareness.
• Flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and Sundays (Alberta only).
• Knowledge of meat cuts is an asset.

Physical Requirements

• Constant lifting of up to 10 pounds.
• Frequent standing, reaching, gripping, bending, walking, twisting, pushing, and pulling.
• Occasional lifting up to 50 lbs and exposure to heat and exhaust.
