Job summary

Compass Group Canada is hiring a Mailroom Clerk in Ottawa to sign for, direct, and record all incoming Canada Post deliveries and to deliver, slot, and sort mail throughout the day. You’ll process internal and external mailings and notify staff of large packages, ensuring timely and accurate delivery.

Required are a secondary school diploma and basic math, 6 months of customer service/office/mailroom experience, and proficiency in MS Word/Excel.

Qualifications

  • Completion of secondary school and basic math skills.
  • 6 months prior experience in customer service/office services/mailroom.
  • Intermediate knowledge of MS Word, MS Excel.
  • Knowledge and experience using postage metering machine and courier processing online as an asset.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.
  • Readily available to work.
  • Able to lift 50 lbs.

Responsibilities

  • Sign for, record, and direct all incoming Canada Post and courier deliveries.
  • Deliver, slot, pick up and sort all incoming and outgoing mail.
  • Process internal and external mass mailings.
  • Receive incoming couriers and notify intended recipient(s) as soon as possible.
  • Maintain accurate records of urgent business mail delivery.
  • Ensure all lookups mail is processed, counted, and logged.
  • Notify individual staff by e-mail or telephone of larger boxes and deliveries.
  • Cover staff on vacation or absence.
  • Other duties as required

Job description

The hourly wage rate for this position is $17.60. Final compensation will be determined based on relevant skills, experience, qualifications, and internal equity.
