Job Profile

The Payroll and Finance Support Clerk, works under the general supervision of the Senior Payroll Clerk , performing all duties associated with the processing of the department's WCB and Rehab Payrolls, as well as providing clerical support to the division.

As a Payroll & Finance Support Clerk B you will:

  • Prepare and process all Worker's Compensation Board reports for Transit employees.
  • Prepare and process the Rehab payroll.
  • Perform other various activities to support the division.

Qualifications

Your education and qualifications include:

  • High School diploma or equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • Enrollment in Payroll Management Certificate program within six (6) months is required.
  • A minimum two (2) years of related work experience in an Accounting/Payroll environment.
  • Knowledge of fundamental accounting principles and policies and the ability to prepare financial reports, and reconcile accounting records.
  • Experience working in Finance and HR module of People Soft. Experience working in IntraOp would be an asset.
  • Must have demonstrated working proficiency with intermediate levels of spreadsheet and word processing applications (Word and Excel).
  • Ability to accurately perform complex calculations.
  • Superior customer service skills.
  • Ability to maintain professionalism while working under stressful conditions.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills including the ability to maintain good working relationships with co-workers and employees at all levels of the organization, as well as, union representatives, and external contacts in accordance with the Respectful Workplace Administrative Standard.
  • Must be able to work efficiently with a minimum of supervision.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage workflows effectively, ensuring deadlines are met.
  • Must be capable of understanding and following verbal and written instructions and be able to communicate and express ideas clearly and concisely.
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality at all times.
  • Experience working with the Amalgamated Transit Union (ATU) collective agreement would be an asset.
  • Experience with Worker's Compensation legislation would be an asset.
