Position Overview

Reporting to the Manager of Health Information Services, responsible for a variety of functions including: patient pre-registration, registration, bed control, health record culling, death processing, DPIN retrieval/Client Registry search, chart management, late report processing, chart assembly, and report generation/dissemination.

Experience
  • Experience in a Windows environment is essential.
Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)
  • Minimum grade 12 education.
  • Successful completion of the Medical Administrative Assistant Program at Manitoba Institute of Trades & Technology, a recognized medical secretary program, or the first year of a recognized diploma/degree in nursing.
  • Alternatively, successful completion of a recognized medical terminology course plus one-year experience in a Patient Registration department or related experience (e.g., Ward Clerk, Unit Assistant, Secretary, Receptionist in a clinical area).
Qualifications and Skills
  • Accurate typing at 45 words per minute.
Physical Requirements
  • May require extended hours.
  • Potential encounters with aggressive or agitated individuals.
  • Adherence to all safety and health policies and practices.

This position requires a current satisfactory Criminal Records Check (including Vulnerable Sector Search), Child Abuse Registry Check, and Adult Abuse Registry Check as conditions of employment. The successful candidate will be responsible for any service charges incurred. A security check is considered current if obtained within six months prior to employment start date.

Note: Employees cannot hold multiple positions across the WRHA legal entity that total more than 1.0 EFT. The WRHA includes various hospitals and programs listed in the original description.
