Clerical Trainer, Oncology Clinic

Location: Vancouver, BC

The Clerical Trainer provides training and educational services to clerical staff and/or students in various clinical settings within the BC Cancer regional centre. This role collaborates with the Manager, Supervisor, and interdisciplinary teams to perform learning needs analysis, support ongoing skills development, and develop high-quality training programs.

Responsibilities
  1. Provide orientation and training activities to clerical staff, including formal presentations, demonstrations, and one-on-one training on client support services, system changes, and workflows.
  2. Conduct learning needs analysis in collaboration with team members, determine training requirements, develop educational materials, and support ongoing skills development.
  3. Evaluate employee performance, identify training needs, and support staff development and long-term staffing planning.
  4. Schedule training sessions, maintain training records, and ensure training is delivered effectively within established timeframes.
  5. Provide ongoing support and mentoring to staff and students, promoting professionalism and best practices.
Qualifications
  • Grade 12, medical terminology, graduation from a recognized secretarial/clerical program, and four years of recent, related experience, including one year in a training role, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Knowledge of Indigenous health issues, systemic racism, and legislative obligations related to Indigenous Peoples, including TRC Calls to Action, In Plain Sight, BC's Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act, UNDRIP, and related documents.
  • Understanding of Indigenous-specific racism, systemic barriers, and commitment to cultural safety, humility, and anti-racism practices.
  • Ability to keyboard at 50 WPM, communicate effectively, organize work, operate related equipment, and perform physical duties as required.
  • Deep understanding of personal learning journey regarding Indigenous-specific racism and systemic oppression, with the ability to articulate and inspire others.
Additional Information
  • Type: Temporary, Full-Time (Until November 7, 2025)
  • Wage: $32.35 per hour
  • Hours: Monday - Friday, 0800-1600
  • Location: 600 West 10th Avenue, Vancouver
