Humber River Health in Toronto is seeking a Clerical Associate for the Bariatric Clinic, Surgical Program. This temporary part-time role handles patient registration, discharge, records, billing support and appointment scheduling within a fast-paced clinical setting.

The ideal candidate has a high school diploma, strong medical terminology knowledge, and at least one year of clerical experience in outpatient health care.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Secretarial and medical terminology knowledge preferred.
  • Minimum one year clerical experience in health care.
  • Computer skills and typing speed (40 wpm) required.
  • Meditech experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide clerical support including patient registration and discharge, maintenance of patient records, order entry, statistics, and assisting with patient billing.
  • Deliver customer service including scheduling appointments, answer patient inquiries, telephone inquiries, and greet patients and visitors courteously.
  • Coordinate with bed allocation and other departments to arrange patient placement.
  • Collaborate with other departments and service areas as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Clerical Associate to work in our Bariatric Clinic, Surgical Program.


Employment Status: Temporary Part TimeDuration (if contract): November 2026Hours of Work: Variable hours of days and evenings shifts (7:30 am-3:30 pm and/or 11 am-7 pm) - subject to change as per Article 3 – Management Rights.Location: Humber River Health, Willson SiteLabour Group: Teamsters ClericalReporting Relationship: Manager, BariatricsHourly Rate: $29.966 - $31.016


Responsibilities:

Qualifications:



  • Must be a high school graduate or equivalent.

  • Completed secretarial and medical terminology courses preferred.

  • Knowledge of medical terminology is required.

  • Minimum of one-year full time recent clerical experience required, preferably in an out-patient health care setting.

  • Computer skills required, keyboarding 40 wpm required.

  • Meditech computer experience is preferred.

  • Community-wide scheduling experience is preferred.

  • Must have excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.

  • Excellent customer service skills required.

  • Excellent organizational skills required, including an ability to prioritize a varied and busy workload and work with tight deadlines, frequent interruptions, and emergency situations.

  • Ability to work independently with minimum supervision, as well as in a team environment.

  • Excellent attendance and discipline free record required.
