It is acknowledged that Central Okanagan Public Schools operates within the unceded, Traditional Territory of the Okanagan syilx peoples. The School District enrolls over 25,000 students (including approximately 3,200 students who self-identify as having First Nations, Metis, and/or Inuit ancestry from Canada). Central Okanagan Public Schools is located in the Central Okanagan encompassing the communities of Peachland, West Kelowna, Kelowna, and Lake Country. There are a total of 50 school sites with 32 Elementary Schools, 8 Middle schools, 5 Secondary Schools, 3 Learning Centres, an Alternate Education School, and an Online Learning School (K-12). CLERICAL RELIEF POSITIONS

AVAILABILITY: On-Call / Relief (Up 35 hours per week)

WAGE RATE: $24.68 - $26.74 per hour

Plus: 5% of bi-weekly earnings in lieu of vacation and 5% of straight time earnings in each pay period in lieu of statutory holidays. After successfully completing a probationary period and attaining seniority, relief staff working on call will receive 10% in lieu of benefits and paid leaves when working 17.5 hours or more per week.

DURATION: 10 Month (September to June)

This position offers flexible hours and ample time off including summer and winter/spring breaks.

Clerical relief will have the opportunity to apply internally on part-time and full-time opportunities.

Position Summary

  • Process and circulate resources in the library, take inventory, perform clerical/receptionist and word processing duties and monitor students.
  • Accurately and efficiently utilize word processing, spreadsheet, database and communications software.

Qualifications

  • Grade 12 and a six month post-secondary program in Office/Business Administration;
  • One (1) year recent successful experience in an office administration position;
  • Bookkeeping and accounting experience is an asset;
  • Minimum net keyboarding speed 50 wpm (copy of certified supervised typing test required);
  • Proven intermediate to advanced computer skills to accurately and efficiently utilize word processing, spreadsheet, database and communications software;
  • Ability to organize and prioritize a wide range of duties effectively and efficiently, and to work accurately under pressure at a high level of quality with constant disruptions;
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with students, employees, and the public;
  • Demonstrated ability to work at the level of independence and with the degree of initiative appropriate to the position.

Shortlisted candidates will be required to successfully pass a clerical assessment.
