Job summary

Trivium Packaging is seeking a dedicated janitorial associate in Blacks Harbour, NB. You will be responsible for cleaning the internal and external plant, trash pickup, and maintaining a safe, orderly environment in a manufacturing setting.

Responsibilities include operating floor care equipment, ensuring hygiene standards per BRC/GMP guidelines, and supporting ongoing housekeeping with a strong emphasis on safety and teamwork.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• 2 years of janitorial experience.
• Ability to read, write and speak English.
• Ability to operate floor polisher/buffer and scrubber.
• Aware of GHS instructions and requirements.
• Take initiative and work with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

• Pick-up and dispose trash for the facility and offices.
• Separate recyclables and non-recyclables and empty containers.
• Maintain janitorial supplies inventory and reordering.
• Clean restrooms, offices, cafeteria, meeting/training rooms, lobby and outside areas.
• Maintain clean floors; sweep, mop, scrub or vacuum; operate floor polisher/buffer.
• Notify managers of hazards or concerns related to plant condition.
• Maintain walkways; snow/ice removal.
• May paint or move furniture as needed.
• Ensure compliance with corporate policies and health and safety standards.
• Adhere to 5S and general housekeeping of shop and office.

Job description

Under the direction of the Shift Supervisor, is responsible for the maintenance, cleanliness, service and sanitation of the internal and external plant in compliance with standard operating procedures, health and safety standards.

Job Duties:

• Pick-up and disposal of trash for the entire facility including offices, cafeteria, conference room, restrooms, internal and external plant.
• Gather trash, separates recyclable & non-recyclable and empties them in the allocated containers to be picked up.
• Responsible for janitorial supplies inventory control & reordering as necessary.
• Services and cleans restrooms, offices, cafeteria, meeting/training rooms, quality control rooms, lobby and outside areas.
• Responsible for keeping floors clean by sweeping, mopping, scrubbing or vacuuming them & operating floor polisher/buffer and scrubber.
• Notifies managers of potential hazards or any concerns related to the condition of the plant.
• Maintain walkways both internal and external (i.e., snow/ice removal).
• May be required to paint or move furniture.
• While conducting work functions, ensures compliance of all corporate policies and health and safety standards.
• Shall be competent and shall have appropriate education, training, skill and experience. They shall be fully conversant in BRC Food Safety Policy, GMPs, HARA Principle and BRC Food Safety Standard and Application.
• 5S and housekeeping of the shop and office.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Experience Requirements:

• High School Diploma or Equivalent
• 2 years of janitorial experience
• Ability to read, write and speak English, comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos
• Ability to run industrial hand-operated floor polisher/buffer and scrubber as well as a snow blower
• Aware of the GHS instructions and requirements
• Must be able to take initiative, follow instructions, work without supervision and manage time
• Team player with the ability to coordinate work with fellow workers
• Able to work safely; has a strong knowledge of safety practices and principles

This position works in a manufacturing environment and around machinery that produces noise. The noise level in the work environment is very loud. Employees must wear hearing protection and all other assigned personal protective equipment. Temperature can range from extreme cold to extreme heat. The atmosphere contains fumes, dust, and odors.
