Job summary

BEST Service Pros in Sarnia, ON is seeking a supervisory custodial lead to oversee daily duties of staff, coordinate scheduling, and ensure a clean, inviting building environment. You will bridge management and frontline teams, handle supplies and equipment, and support safety and training initiatives.

The role emphasizes staff supervision, effective communication, and adherence to BEST’s mission and values, with a consistent Monday–Friday schedule and an evening shift.

Qualifications

• Supervisory experience is preferred.
• Knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety Act (OSHA) is beneficial.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Proficiency with MS Office and smartphones/tablets.
• Ability to analyze, plan, organize, prioritize, and meet deadlines.
• Multilingual ability (French) is an asset.
• Flexible to work some weekends.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily duties of both light and heavy duty custodians.
• Train new hires and foster BEST’s company culture, mission, and values.
• Maintain open communication with site management regarding staffing, safety, supplies, and related concerns.
• Facilitate staff meetings to implement policies, procedures and safety requirements.
• Maintain and secure storage areas and cleaning equipment/supplies ensuring safety of staff and the public.
• Perform light and heavy duty cleaning responsibilities including floor maintenance.
• Report equipment repairs and stock shortages.
• Other duties as required per business needs.

JOB LOCATION:

Sarnia, ON
SHIFT DAYS: Monday-Friday
SHIFT HOURS: 4:30 PM to 12:30 AM
WAGE RATE: $24.10 per hour

JOB OVERVIEW:

You will be responsible for making sure your building looks clean, presentable, and inviting at all times. You are the bridge between Management and our frontline staff, and often the first resource to manage scheduling, tools and supplies, and employee questions.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Oversee daily duties of both light and heavy duty custodians
• Train new hires and foster BEST’s company culture, mission, and values
• Maintain open communication with Assistant Site Manager/Site Manager regarding staffing issues, safety, supplies, and other related business concerns
• Facilitate staff meetings as required to implement policies, procedures and safety requirements
• Maintain and secure storage areas and cleaning equipment/supplies ensuring safety of staff and the public
• Perform light and heavy duty cleaning responsibilities including floor maintenance
• Perform minor equipment repairs and report vandalism
• Report equipment repairs and stock shortages
• Other duties as required per business needs

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

• Good understanding of Occupational Health and Safety Act
• Strong verbaland written communication skills
• Basic computer and smart phone knowledge with experience using MS Office programs
• Ability to effectively analyze, plan, organize, prioritize, and meet deadlines
• Multilingual ability considered an asset (French)
• Flexible to work some weekends

REQUIREMENTS:

• Previous supervisory experience considered an asset;
• Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving abstract;
• Acceptable security and criminal record check
