Job description

Purpose of Role
Lynn-Rose is looking for a Cleaner to ensure the assigned facility is maintained in a healthy, safe, sanitary way and in a timely manner. The Custodian will carry out routine building cleaning, regularly scheduled maintenance and will follow inspection procedures to ensure cleaning and custodial work is completed on a daily basis in accordance with established standards. The caretaker will follow Workplace Health & Safety policies, practices and procedures and escalate any custodial, maintenance and/or safety issues to the Maintenance Manager.

The successful candidate for this position will be expected to:
  • Safely and correctly perform facility upkeep activities (e.g. cleaning, washrooms, hallways, offices, maintain internal/external areas of the facility) and follows these requirements when doing work in a timely and effective manner.
  • Spots unsafe working conditions, unsafe conditions on playground, or school grounds, and reports them to management with ideas for how to fix the problem promptly.
  • Ensures the facility upkeep is in proper working order and supplies are organized and stocked.
  • Shows care and concern when working with teachers, staff, and/or students, asks questions in order to understand associate needs.
  • Accepts responsibility and meets expectations for own work. Identifies steps needed in order to carry out work as required.
  • Listens to others and asks questions to learn about what is needed. Communicates the right information to associates and leaders when they need it. Communicates in a respectful and professional manner.
  • Make sure work is done correctly and completed in a timely manner.
Skills, Qualifications and Experiences
  • Previous custodial experience is an asset;
  • Must possess a strong attention to detail in order to thoroughly clean and maintain facilities;
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team, with minimal supervision;
  • Requires physical activities that are necessary to perform essential functions of this position including moving up and down stairs;
  • Requires reaching overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting, pulling and stooping, walking and standing for extended periods.
