Qualifications

• Possess valid Commercial Class 1 Driver’s License with Air Brake endorsements.
• Experience in waste and construction industry is an asset.
• Knowledge of tandem trucks and long haul experience preferred.

Job description

GFL Environmental is looking for a Class 1 Roll-Off Driver to join our team in Nanaimo, British Columbia!

As a Class 1 roll-off driver, you will be responsible for safely, efficiently, and courteously providing waste removal services to customers. You have experience with Tandem axle and roll off trucks. An ideal candidate will have a friendly demeanor and is physically capable of completing job duties in a positive, team oriented and supportive environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Responsible for safely, efficiently, and courteously providing waste removal services for commercial, industrial & residential customers. The driver will collect solid waste or recyclables and transporting to post-collection facilities.
• Operate tandem axle roll-off truck to collect waste.
• Works route are away from the branch location on a continuous basis throughout the day.
• Ability to communicate effectively with supervisors and dispatchers.
• Ability to communicate effectively with customers throughout the day.
• Ability to follow instructions and work under limited supervision.
• Ability to driver a vehicle that carries up to 80,000 lbs or 40 tons.
• Ability to lift, push, pull or carry objects up to 50 pounds repetitively using proper lifting techniques.
• Complete pre-trip and post-trip safety lane inspections and reports, daily truck report, route sheets and other documentation requested by supervisor daily.
• Follow all safety standards, equipment checks and precautions in performance of all duties. Comply with all federal, state/provincial, local and company rules on safety and vehicle operation.
• Perform other duties and responsibilities as required or requested by management.
  
  

Requirements:

• Possess valid Commercial Class 1 Driver’s License with Air Brake endorsements and clear driver's abstract
• Comfortable with early starts
• Excellent customer service
• Knowledge of Tandem truck, tarp loads, Long Haul experience
• Waste, construction Industry experiences an asset
