Job summary

Canada Cartage is seeking a dependable Class 1 Owner Operator to join our Vancouver-area team. You will safely operate company tractors to transport freight across Western Canada, completing deliveries and pickups with professionalism and accuracy.

The role requires a valid Class 1 license, clean CVOR, and verifiable driving experience in varied winter conditions. Expect variable schedules, overtime when needed, and a strong emphasis on safety and customer service.

Qualifications

• Must hold a valid Class 1 driver's license.
• Bondable and legally eligible to work in Canada.
• Clean CVOR and driver’s abstract.
• Verifiable recent commercial driving experience.
• Strong understanding of road safety regulations, hours of service, and load securement.
• Experience operating commercial vehicles in winter driving conditions.
• Ability to accurately complete eLogs, vehicle inspection reports, and delivery documentation.
• Physically able to lift up to 50 lbs regularly and up to 75 lbs as required.
• Strong customer service and communication skills with a professional, safety-focused approach.
• Minimum 1 year of verifiable Class 1 driving experience.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate company vehicles to transport freight across Western Canada.
• Complete deliveries and pickups to customer locations within Vancouver in a safe, timely, and professional manner.
• Operate tractor-trailer, flatbed, dry van, reefer or straight truck in line with company policies and regulatory requirements.
• Secure freight using straps, chains, and load bars; comply with load-securing standards.
• Transport general freight in accordance with safety and regulatory guidelines.
• Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections; report issues promptly to maintenance.
• Complete all required documentation including e-logs, inspection reports, and delivery paperwork.
• Maintain compliance with hours-of-service policies, safety policies, and company procedures.
• Be flexible to meet operational/customer demands including variable schedules, overtime, weekends, or overnight runs.

• Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections of the vehicle, including checking tires, brakes, lights, and cargo securement; promptly report any issues to the maintenance department for timely repairs.

• Maintain flexibility to meet operational and customer demands, including variable schedules, overtime, weekends, or overnight runs as required
