Job summary

Jardeg-Construction is recruiting for a Class 1 Equipment Operator to support the Imperial Oil Kearl maintenance site in Fort McKay, Alberta. The role requires rotating 14/14 shifts and on-site camp accommodations with meals, Wi‑Fi, lodging, and exercise facilities provided.

Candidates should have a Class 1 license with air brakes and relevant safety certifications; mining experience is a plus. You will move tools, equipment, and parts, support the shovel workforce, and follow all safety

Qualifications

  • Must hold a Class 1 driver’s license with air brakes and be competent to load and secure loads.
  • AWP, fall protection and basic rigging certifications are required.
  • Experience operating heavy equipment such as telehandlers, forklifts, loaders, and excavators is preferred.
  • Mining/industrial maintenance experience is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Engage in daily lineup meetings to confirm shift priorities.
  • Coordinate with PM and Execution FLS for upcoming work schedules and tooling requirements.
  • Assist outage coordinator with tooling and equipment needs.
  • Deliver and pick up tools and equipment from various locations including shovel workforce.
  • Assist with loading/unloading parts and escorting in mine as required.
  • Ensure shovel pads and maintenance areas are organized and clean.

Jardeg is recruiting Shovels Expeditor to join the Heartland Constructors team at the Imperial Oil Kearl site in Fort MacKay, Alberta. Charter flights are provided from Calgary/Edmonton to site! Shift schedules will be on a 14/14 rotation, 12 hours per day. While working on‑site, workers will be staying at the Wapasu camp:

  • hot meals
  • lodging
  • a workout facility
  • Wi‑Fi

and much more!

TheSuccessful individual would be a key member of the Maintenance Function responsible for providing exceptional support to the teams ensuring equipment, tooling and parts are available at the workforce. Team member must be self‑motivated, being able to plan their day to efficiently keep ahead of the workgroup with any shovel ancillary equipment moves.

Responsibilities:

  • Engage in daily lineup meeting to ensure an understanding of the shift priorities.
  • Engage with the PM and Execution FLS with upcoming work schedules understanding tooling and equipment requirements and ensuring readiness.
  • Assist the outage coordinator with any tooling or equipment needs.
  • Deliver/pick up of tools and equipment from various locations including the shovel workforce. Must be comfortable self-loading and unloading equipment trailers with such equipment as telehandlers and AWPs.
  • Deliver lunch trailers, tool trailers, light plants, heaters, and generators to shovel pads and assist with pad set up.
  • Deliver parts to the work face as requested by the FLS, technicians and materials coordinator. Utilizing flatbed trailers, freight trailers and bumper pull trailers
  • Assist with loading and unloading parts using the Hiab picker.
  • Assist technicians on the job using ancillary equipment.
  • Assist with escorting in the mine as required.
  • Assist with general cleanup on and around the shovel.
  • Assist with ensuring shovel pads are organized.
  • Deliver and pick up light vehicles from the maintenance facility.
  • Load empty rope skids and take empty rope spools to the scrap yard.
  • Assist with snow clean up at the shovel cube and maintenance pads using such equipment as the bobcat tool cat, loaders, and skid steers.
  • A demonstrated commitment to working safely
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Class 1 driver's license with air brakes-Must be competent to load and secure loads to a trailer.
  • Forklift and Zoom boom training.
  • Ariel Work Platform (AWP) certification and experience
  • Fall protection certification and experience
  • Basic Rigging Certification
  • Be qualified to operate a variety of equipment such as a Manlift, Forklifts, Loaders, Telehandlers and Excavators
  • Boom truck (Truck Mounted Crane) certification and experience
  • Be able to pass an Imperial Oil training assessment
  • Mining experience would be an asset
  • Be able to take direction from the shovel supervisor, work independently and follow all site safety standards
