Job summary

CGIC is seeking an Accident Benefits Claims Representative in a hybrid role with two days in the office. You will investigate automobile accident benefit claims, interpret coverage, reserve appropriately, and negotiate settlements while delivering strong client service.

The role requires one year of insurance experience or two years of related work, and a university degree. You will collaborate with clinicians and providers and may engage in defense litigation or ADR as part of case management.

Qualifications

• One year of insurance experience or two years of related work experience.
• Working towards Chartered Insurance Professional (CIP) courses.
• University/College Degree or equivalent.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, internet, and email systems.
• Provincial adjuster licenses may be required depending on province of work.

Responsibilities

• Investigate, interpret coverage, reserve adequately, negotiate and settle automobile accident benefit claims.
• Provide quality client service in accordance with claims service standards.
• Coordinate with claimants, physicians and providers to develop case management plans.
• Manage files in defense litigation and ADR per guidelines.
• Set up and maintain files; authorize payments and reserves up to $75,000.

The Accident Benefits Claims Representative is responsible for investigation, negotiation and settlement of automobile accident benefit claims.

How You Will Create Impact

• Investigate, interpret coverage, reserve adequately, negotiate and settle automobile accident benefit claims.
• Contribute to a client service culture by embedding client engagement philosophies into daily work and implementing innovative, client-centric decision making, to be THE industry leader in client engagement.
• Provide quality client service in accordance with claims service standards.
• Actively participate with claimants, physicians, treatment providers, employers, rehabilitation workers and other service providers in the development, approval, implementation and monitoring of appropriate case management plans for clients.
• Handle files in defense litigation and Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR), using litigation management guidelines.
• Set up and maintain files for assigned claims.
• Authorize payments and reserves up to $75,000 authority.

Salary information

Expected salary range $50,280 to $83,800

The salary amount for the successful candidate is determined by Co-operators in its discretion and will vary depending on several criteria including but not limited to: local market conditions, geography and relevant job-related factors such as knowledge, skills, qualification, experience and education.

Employees may also have the opportunity to participate in incentive programs and earn additional compensation tied to individual and/or business performance, or other business metrics.
