Job summary

Cowan Insurance Group in Canada is seeking a Claims Representative to join our Claims team. You will manage reporting, handling, and resolution of property, auto and liability claims for clients, with a strong focus on service quality.

Reporting to the Manager, Claims, you will review coverage, explain the claims process, maintain records, and collaborate with Account Managers to meet milestones. We value proactive, customer-focused professionals in a hybrid work environment.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of insurance experience, preferably in claims and customer service.
• Knowledge of Personal or Commercial property, auto and liability policies.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• RIBO license or ability to obtain; CAIB/CIP designation is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary point of contact for clients throughout the claims process.
• Provide exceptional customer service to clients via phone and online reports.
• Review policy coverage and explain the claims process clearly to clients.
• Maintain accurate records in the claims management system.
• Collaborate with internal teams including Account Managers.

Cowan Insurance Group is looking for a Claims Representative to join our Claims team!

Reporting to the Manager, Claims the successful candidate will be responsible for the reporting, management, and resolution of new and existing property, auto and liability claims for clients. If you are knowledgeable in the insurance industry with policies, products and customer service, we’d love to hear from you!

What you will do:

• Serve as the primary point of contact for clients throughout the claims process, ensuring timely and professional communication
• Provide exceptional customer service to clients via phone queue and online reports
• Review policy coverage, proficiently explain the claims process and set customer expectations
• Have regular contact with the customer and insurer to ensure specific milestones are met throughout the claim
• Advocate for customers when claims issues arise, challenging the insurer on coverage decisions when necessary
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date records in the claims management system
• Collaborate with internal teams, including Account Managers and service members

What you will bring:

• A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in insurance, preferably with a claims and customer service background
• Knowledge of Personal and/or Commercial property, auto & liability policies
• High school diploma (or equivalent) required
• Ability to interpret policy wordings and explain in a clear and concise manner to clients
• Excellent organizational, negotiation, analytical and interpersonal skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications with strong data entry expertise
• Collaborative team player with excellent communication abilities and a professional demeanor
• Self-starter with ability to multi-task and prioritize competing demands
• Strong organizational and time management skills with attention to detail
• RIBO License or the ability to obtain
• CAIB or CIP designation (or working towards) would be an asset

This is a replacement position.

The expected base salary range for this role is $44,700 to $64,000. Final compensation may vary and will take into account factors including relevant experience, qualifications, skills, knowledge and internal equity.
