Primary Objectives :

HSB is seeking a dynamic and proactive leader to oversee a high-performing team of Claims Adjusters and enhance the capabilities of our Strategic Products claims unit. Based in our downtown Toronto Head Office, the Claims Manager will play a critical role in delivering exceptional service, ensuring consistent claims quality, and driving operational excellence. This role is key to strengthening HSB’s value proposition by optimizing workflows, supporting product development, and fostering strong relationships with both internal and external partners.

Job Responsibilities :

  • Full- Lead, mentor, and support a team of skilled Claims Adjusters to ensure high-quality claims handling.
  • Collaborate with external legal counsel, consultants, independent adjusters, and technical experts to support complex claims.
  • Act as a liaison with reinsurance clients on claim-related matters and emerging industry issues.
  • Partner with internal experts to identify risk patterns, technical hazards, and industry trends.
  • Conduct regular claims file audits to ensure quality standards and top-tier customer service are maintained.
  • Contribute to strategic initiatives, including system enhancements, process improvements, performance optimization, and claims-related reporting across the HSB Group.

Qualifications :

  • University degree, Chartered Insurance Professional (CIP) designation completed or in progress.
  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in personal or commercial property claims, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
  • Technical aptitude or background preferred—experience with electrical, mechanical, pressure equipment, or Equipment Breakdown claims is an asset.
  • Familiarity with personal lines underwriting is advantageous.
  • Experience in litigation, subrogation, and treaty reinsurance is considered an asset.
  • Strong leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills—both written and verbal
