Claims Consultant, Marine

Are you passionate about handling corporate clients’ claims from start to finish, advocating for their interests and interpreting insurance policies with precision? Ready to negotiate successful claim resolutions, build industry relationships, and play a pivotal role in achieving client satisfaction? If so, read on!

What the day will look like

  • Be an advocate for the clients to protect their interests in the claims process, this includes negotiating for coverage and quantum, addressing service issues, gathering missing information and analysis of claims circumstances and obtaining updates from all stakeholders
  • Obtain claims’ details and triage, and report to insurers
  • Guide clients on submitting claims
  • Interpret policy coverage on behalf of Aon clients
  • Discuss coverage details with the insured and the insurance company
  • Assist clients and negotiate with insurers to build successful partnerships and positive claim resolutions
  • Assist in set-up of claims’ protocols for key accounts
  • Work with control adjusters to obtain updated claim information and data
  • Required to obtain RIBO license within first year of employment (regulatory requirement)

How this opportunity is different

As a Claims Consultant with our Marine team, you are responsible for the process of reporting, documenting, and settlement of claims on behalf of major clients to an insurance company. This role is responsible for assisting with all aspects of the client service program in support of responsive and efficient client service delivery.

Skills and experience that will lead to success

  • 5 years of Marine claims handling experience preferred
  • Marine commercial claims' experience with a focus in:
    • Cargo
    • Transportation and Logistics
    • Hull and Machinery an asset
    • Protection and Indemnity an asset
    • Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills
    • Ability to build strong business relationships both internally and within the industry
    • Ability and willingness to work in a team environment
    • Bilingual in French or other language an asset
    • Working towards Designations in CIP/FCIP or CRM are preferred
