Key Objective :

To investigate, assess, reserve, and resolve Property Claims over the telephone while adhering to all Claims Service Standards utilizing digital technologies.

Major Responsibilities :

  • Provide first-in-class service while utilizing digital technology determine the nature of loss, coverage provided, and scope of damage. Promptly and properly document all developments in the claim file.
  • Make use of video collaboration and other digital tools to virtually inspect claims and compose damage estimates in CoreLogic.
  • When warranted, engage independent adjusters for additional support and coordinate their work on assigned claims.
  • Maintain open to closed inventory ratio of 1 : 1 or better.
  • Proactively manage claims by maintaining an active diary.
  • Exercise good judgment.
  • Establish accurate and timely reserves.
  • Negotiate timely settlement of claims within delegated authority while considering cause of loss, quantum, and coverage available.
  • Communicate effectively with various internal and external various stakeholders (. Underwriters, Brokers).
  • Identify subrogation and salvage opportunities.
  • Recognize and investigate claims which exhibit suspicious loss indicators.
  • Effectively control the use, work product, and expenses of outside vendors as required.
  • Embrace digital technologies including virtual inspections and automated processes.
  • Support Property Team nationally, including assisting with CAT Duty during major industry events.
  • Adhere to Chubb Claim Handling Best Practice guidelines.
  • University degree and / or equivalent insurance-related education and experience.
  • Experience working in CoreLogic or other digital estimating platforms is an asset.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience handling property claims or equivalent experience.
  • Strong customer service and negotiation skills, with the ability to think creatively and make decisions.
  • Excellent time management and organizational abilities with the ability to prioritize tasks.
  • Flexibility to support the Western Region time zone would be a significant asset.
  • Good knowledge of insurance business, policies, and legal requirements and regulations.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team.
  • Ability to initiate positive change when necessary.
  • CIP designation or a willingness to take CIP courses through the Insurance Institute an asset.
  • Bilingual in English and French an asset.
