The Primary Construction Team consists of ACCIONA Infrastructure Canada Inc. (ACCIONA) and Amico Major Projects Inc. (Amico), as Trillium Guideway Partners (TGP).

What is the project?

The Ontario Line (“OL”) is a fully integrated, stand-alone, rapid transit system that connects Ontario Science Centre to the Exhibition and Ontario Place grounds. The Northern Civil, Stations and Tunnel (“NC”) project consists of approximately 7 kms of underground subway and elevated guideway, with stations along the segment providing connections to surface bus and streetcar routes. The NC project has been divided into two main progressive design-build contracts: (1) the Elevated Guideways and Stations Contract (“EGS”) and the Pape Tunnel and Underground Station Contract (“PTUS”), with supporting Early Works.

What is the Opportunity?

Civil Works Lead to oversee and manage all technical aspects of civil works in large-scale infrastructure, transportation, or building projects. This role is responsible for ensuring that design, engineering, and construction activities comply with project requirements, safety regulations, and industry standards.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage all civil engineering and construction activities, including earthworks, foundations, roads, drainage systems, retaining structures, and utilities.
  • Oversee the technical design, review, and approval of civil works to ensure compliance with engineering standards, safety regulations, and environmental requirements.
  • Coordinate with structural, geotechnical, MEP, and systems teams to ensure seamless project integration.
  • Provide technical expertise in soil stabilization, ground improvement, foundation engineering, and material selection.
  • Manage civil engineering documentation, including technical reports, design calculations, drawings, and specifications.
  • Work closely with contractors and subcontractors to ensure proper execution of civil works according to design and quality requirements.
  • Conduct site inspections and audits to ensure adherence to project specifications, safety protocols, and industry best practices.
  • Identify and resolve technical challenges in construction, offering innovative solutions to prevent delays and cost overruns.
  • Ensure proper risk management and mitigation strategies for civil construction activities.
  • Oversee the implementation of quality control (QC) and quality assurance (QA) processes for all civil engineering works.
  • Review method statements, work plans, and construction sequences for complex civil work operations.
  • Assist in budgeting, cost estimation, and resource planning for civil engineering works.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental and sustainability goals, including erosion control, stormwater management, and sustainable materials use.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders, government agencies, and regulatory bodies to obtain necessary permits and approvals

Work Conditions:

  • Offica Location: Queen St East / Don Mills Area, North York Next to Science Centre.
  • Office-based with frequent site visits to monitor civil works execution.
  • Full-time, with potential for overtime or extended hours during critical project phases.

What You’ll bring to the Team (Knowledge, Skills, Competencies)

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in civil engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • 8 + years of experience in civil engineering and construction, with leadership experience in large-scale infrastructure or transportation projects.
  • Strong knowledge of civil design principles, construction methodologies, and materials science.
  • Expertise in geotechnical engineering, foundation design, drainage systems, and roadworks.
  • Familiarity with international and local civil engineering codes.
  • Experience working with contractors, consultants, and government agencies on civil infrastructure projects.
  • Strong problem-solving, leadership, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a multidisciplinary team environment and coordinate with various stakeholders.
