Job summary

Stantec is seeking a Civil Technologist to deliver innovative water infrastructure solutions. Based in Windsor, Ontario, you’ll manage assignments and support large-scale projects across Southwestern Ontario and North America.

You will lead design tasks for sanitary, storm, and watermain systems, coordinate with project teams, and ensure compliance with industry standards, client requirements, and permitting processes. The role emphasizes technical leadership and collaboration.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in a consulting environment involved in civil infrastructure design.
  • Technical diploma/certificate in Civil Engineering Technology or related field.
  • Proficient in Civil 3D.

Responsibilities

  • Design sanitary, storm, and watermain projects and overland flow / civil site plan design.
  • Complete design work and calculations for civil infrastructure projects.
  • Prepare design drawings using Civil 3D software.
  • Coordinate with the Project Manager, team members and sub-consultants.
  • Act as a technical resource by providing guidance to other team members.
  • Implement understanding of conveyance system construction elements in design.

Your Opportunity

As a Civil Technologist, you'll play a key part in delivering innovative water infrastructure solutions—whether you're independently managing smaller assignments or supporting large-scale, multi-faceted projects.

Our team tackles a broad spectrum of work, from sanitary sewer systems and stormwater management to watermain design and rehabilitation. Projects range in scale and complexity, including master plan environmental assessments, open-cut construction, trenchless technologies, relining, and tunneling. Based in our Windsor office, you'll have the chance to contribute to impactful projects throughout Southwestern Ontario and across North America.

Your Key Responsibilities
  • Typical projects or design tasks may include the design of sanitary, storm, and watermain projects and overland flow / civil site plan design projects.
  • Undertake technical tasks including completing design work, calculations on a wide range of civil infrastructure projects generally involving sewer and watermain design and rehabilitation.
  • Prepare design drawings using Civil 3D software.
  • Coordinate with the Project Manager, team members and sub-consultants.
  • Acts as a technical resource by providing guidance to other team members.
  • Implements understanding of conveyance system construction elements as it relates to design to select construction methods and defining work area limits.
  • May coordinate with the team on construction activities, providing guidance and clarification of the design during construction.
  • Develops strategy for minimizing impacts and constraints due to environmental and permitting requirements.
  • Understands and implements industry standards and manuals as well as client and regulatory agencies standards and requirements.
  • Performs other duties of a similar nature and level as assigned.
Your Capabilities and Credentials
  • Demonstrated efficient technical leadership of assigned tasks on multiple concurrent projects.
  • Understand client expectations, budgeting, proposal writing, and producing high quality deliverables.
  • Proficient in Civil 3D software
  • Experience with ACC docs, ProjectWise, GIS, Navisworks and MicroStation would be an asset
  • Adept in many relevant areas of design and understanding of various design and construction methods.
  • Requisite knowledge, interpretation, and application of design and construction codes.
  • Strong understanding of all phases of project document production and the relationship between drawings and specifications.
  • Strong knowledge of civil systems, means and methods, materials, and industry standards.
  • Ability to lead one or more teams through all phases of the project.
  • Strong presentation and communication skills, including ability to communicate ideas to others.
Education and Experience
  • Technical diploma/certificate in Civil Engineering Technology or related field.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience working in a consulting environment involved in the design of civil infrastructure.

Pay Range
  • Locations Outside of Lower Mainland - BC & Various locations in Ontario-$68,200.00 - $98,900.00 Annually
  • Locations in Lower Mainland - BC, GTA & Ottawa Ontario-$72,300.00 - $104,800.00 Annually

Pay Transparency: In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec, certain roles are bonus eligible. Actual compensation for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on the agreed number of working hours per week.
