Job summary

Albarrie Canada Limited is seeking a Civil Technologist to work under the Director of Engineering and Project Manager. The role involves installing secondary oil containment in high voltage substations, spanning quotation, design, construction, and closeout documentation, with both office and field work across North America.

This permanent, full-time position requires travel and offers a dynamic, hands-on environment with growth opportunities within Albarrie’s engineering team.

Qualifications

  • Completion of a college diploma or degree in Civil Engineering.
  • Flexibility to travel up to 50% within Canada and internationally.
  • Passport or US visa required for travel to the US.
  • Ontario Driver’s License (G2 or G) and ability to operate personal, company, or rental vehicles.
  • Professional designation or in progress is an asset.
  • Blueprint reading and AutoCAD experience are assets.
  • Ability to comply with drug and alcohol testing requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Review scope of work, cost calculations, schedules, and bid/documentation.
  • Conduct on-site visits to ensure quality and build client relationships.
  • Provide technical support during engineering and construction phases.
  • Define project requirements with the project team.
  • Ensure final designs, as‑built drawings, manuals, and QC docs are complete and ready for shipping or installation.
  • Know product availability, applications, benefits and pricing structure.
  • Supervise onsite team and assist with installation of products and systems.
  • Provide estimates and quotations as required.
  • Maintain client and company confidentiality and security of information.
  • Collaborate with project management to address engineering issues for clients.
  • Advise customers on product use and care.

This role requires up to 50% travel to field sites across North America.

POSITION OVERVIEW

Under the guidance of the Director of Engineering and Project Manager, the Civil Technologist will work within high voltage substations installing secondary oil containments. They will be involved in all phases of projects from quotation and design to the construction and project closing documentation.


This role involves both office and field work, with travel required across North America.


This role has been created to cover a current vacancy within the team.


RESPONSIBILITIES


  • Perform complete project reviews including scope of work (SOW), appropriate volume andcost calculations, execution of schedules (guidance), design review prior to bid and release of quotations.

  • Conduct on-site visits of installations to ensure quality standards are met and build strong relationships with clients, subcontractors, and staff.

  • Provide technical support during the engineering and construction phases of projects.

  • Define project requirements in collaboration with the project team.

  • Ensure final designs, as-built drawings, manuals, and QC documentation are in order prior to shipping, installing, or sending to client.

  • Responsible for having knowledge of all products availability, the product applications, product benefits and pricing structure.

  • Supervise the onsite team and provide hands‑on assistance for installation of products and systems.

  • Provide estimates and quotations for jobs as required.

  • Maintains client and company confidence by keeping information confidential and secure.

  • Foster strong business relationships with current cliental and project management groups to answer to the client any engineering issues that may arise.

  • Advise customers on the use and care of products and provide advice concerning specialized products or services.


QUALIFICATIONS


  • Completion of a college diploma or degreein Civil Engineering.

  • Flexibility to travel up to 50% both within Canada and internationally.

  • Must possess a valid passport permitting travel to the United States OR hold a valid U.S. B1/B2 visa.

  • Must hold a valid Ontario Driver’s License (Class G2 or G)and be able to operate personal, company, or rental vehicles.

  • Professional designation(or actively in progress) is considered an asset.

  • Blueprint reading and AutoCAD experience are considered assets.

  • Must be able to comply with drug and alcohol testing requirements, as applicable.
