Job summary

Associated Engineering in Vancouver, Canada seeks a Civil Technologist to produce drafting and design for civil infrastructure projects. You will work with engineers to develop concept designs, prepare detailed drawings, and support tender and analysis tasks while collaborating with multi-disciplinary teams.

The role requires a Diploma in Civil Engineering Technology and 2+ years of civil design experience; topographic surveys, theodolite use, and proficiency with AutoCAD/Civil 3D are assets.

Qualifications

  • Diploma in Civil Engineering Technology from an accredited post-secondary institution.
  • 2+ years of relevant experience in civil design.
  • Experience with topographic surveys using total-station and GPS-RTK is an asset.
  • Experience using theodolite and level is an asset.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and Civil 3D is required.
  • Experience with MS Word and Excel is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Provide drafting and design support using AutoCAD and Civil 3D for civil infrastructure projects.
  • Create conceptual and preliminary designs and prepare detailed drawings.
  • Support with tender documents and engineering analysis.
  • Coordinate with engineers and multi-discipline teams on roads, land development, and site servicing projects.
  • Field surveying and data collection; construction inspection and contract administration support.

What you’ll do:


  • Provide strong technical capabilities using AutoCAD and Civil 3D for drawing production and design, as well as working with survey, LiDAR and GIS datasets.

  • Alongside engineers and other designers, provide drafting, design, figures, maps, and data analysis for a variety of civil infrastructure projects, including roads, land development, site servicing, water distribution systems, wastewater collection systems and storm water management systems.

  • Create conceptual and preliminary designs.

  • Prepare detailed design drawings.

  • Support with tender documents.

  • Support with engineering analysis.

  • Support with technical report submissions.

  • Field surveying and data collection.

  • Construction inspection and assistance with contract administration.

  • Coordinate and communicate with multi-discipline project teams.


Does this sound like you?


  • Diploma in Civil Engineering Technology from an accredited post-secondary educational institution

  • 2+ years of relevant experience in civil design

  • Additional experience that includes topographic surveys using conventional (i.e. total-station) and GPS-RTK survey methods is considered an asset

  • Experience in using theodolite and level

  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and Civil 3D

  • Experience in MS Word and Excel is an asset

  • Experience with construction inspection is an asset

  • Strong communication and organizational skills

  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment

  • Excellent attention to detail, accuracy and quality

  • Valid Class 7 or 5 BC Driver's License (required)

  • Ability to work within tight deadlines and schedules
