Job summary

Tetra Tech in Canada is seeking a Civil Technologist to join our Power team. This role can be performed anywhere in Canada, with a focus on hydro, substations, renewables, and industrial facilities.

You will assist in civil designs, drawings, and specifications, contribute to budgets and timelines, and uphold sustainable engineering solutions while maintaining high QA standards. CET preferred; diploma in Civil Engineering Technology required; 3+ years' experience.

Qualifications

  • Diploma in Civil Engineering Technology from a recognized institution.
  • Minimum of 3+ years of relevant design/drafting experience in consulting and/or Energy environment.
  • CET designation is preferred.
  • Experience with Civil engineering design and related disciplines.
  • Detail oriented with strong communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in civil designs, drawings and specs for hydro, renewables, substations, and industrial structures.
  • Draft according to established standards and guidelines.
  • Collaborate to set timelines and budgets.
  • Ensure designs incorporate sustainable engineering solutions.
  • Maintain safety standards and procedures.
  • Pursue CPD and stay current.
  • Travel as required.

Position Summary:

We are currently seeking a Civil Technologist. This is an existing vacant position for which we are actively recruiting. Essential Job Functions:

As a Civil Technologist, you will play a key role in supporting civil design projects for hydro, substations, renewable energy infrastructure, and industrial facilities. Your expertise will contribute to delivering high‑quality, sustainable engineering solutions for our clients.

Assist in the preparation of civil designs, drawings, and specifications for hydro, renewables, substations, transmission lines, and industrial structures.

  • Performs work according to established drafting standards, practices and guidelines.

Collaborate with others to establish timelines and budgets, as well as solve problems.

  • Ensure that designs incorporate sustainable and innovative engineering solutions.
  • Conduct activities in line with internal procedures, legislation, and industry standards.
  • Pursue continuous professional development and maintain a high degree of discipline knowledge and awareness.
  • Work in a safe manner at all times and report all health and safety incidents and concerns.
  • Additional duties as required.
Required Qualifications:
  • Diploma in Civil Engineering Technology from a recognized institution.
  • Minimum of 3+ years of relevant design/drafting experience in consulting and/or Energy environment

Certified Engineering Technologist (CET) designation is preferred.

Experience with Civil engineering design and related disciplines

Detail oriented and ability to remain focused.

  • Strong problem‑solving skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • Excellent communication skills, including technical writing and client interactions.
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to sit or stand as required and remain in a stationary position for at least 50% of the workday.
  • Frequent use of hands and fingers to handle, manipulate, or feel objects, including continuous operation of a computer and other standard office equipment such as calculators, copiers, and printers.
  • The majority of work is performed in a professional office setting.
  • Periodic travel may be required and could involve limited exposure to extreme temperatures. Travel may include air travel, during which the employee may be required to remain seated for extended periods.

The salary range for this position is $70,000to$120,000. Please note that Tetra Tech considers various factors in determining pay, including but not limited to: education, relevant and demonstrated work experience in the role, skills, geographic location, qualifications, certifications, and other competencies relevant to the needs of the business.
