Job summary

Aplin is seeking an experienced Civil Superintendent to join our Vancouver-based civil construction team. The role requires stepping into ongoing infrastructure projects with leadership from day one, managing daily operations, safety, and coordination with project managers.

You will oversee crews, subcontractors, and equipment across Lower Mainland projects ranging from $1M to $10M, reporting to the Director of Construction. Vancouver-based candidates are preferred.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of Civil Construction experience.
• Clean & valid driving license.
• Strong communication and written skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead and oversee day-to-day civil construction operations, ensuring safety and adherence to plans and specs.
• Supervise site crews, foremen, subcontractors, and equipment operators, guiding productivity.
• Coordinate excavation, grading, underground utilities, roadworks, concrete, and site servicing.
• Develop and maintain project schedules, coordinating manpower, equipment, materials, and subcontractors to meet milestones.
• Review drawings, specs and site conditions; coordinate solutions with PMs, consultants and engineers.
• Monitor quality to meet contract requirements and municipal standards.
• Conduct regular site inspections, toolbox talks, and progress meetings with safety focus.
• Track production, quantities, materials, and equipment for cost control and progress reporting.
• Coordinate with clients, inspectors, subcontractors, and internal teams to resolve issues and maintain progress.
• Maintain accurate site documentation (daily reports, deficiency lists, RFIs, change orders, closeout).

About The Opportunity

You will be working on projects based within the Lower Mainland, with projects ranging from $1M – $10M. The position is reporting directly to the Director of Construction.

About The Position

• Lead and oversee day-to-day civil construction operations, ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and in accordance with project plans and specifications.
• Supervise site crews, foremen, subcontractors, and equipment operators, providing direction and maintaining strong productivity levels.
• Coordinate construction activities including excavation, grading, underground utilities, roadworks, concrete, and site servicing.
• Develop and maintain project schedules, coordinating manpower, equipment, materials, and subcontractor activities to meet key milestones.
• Review drawings, specifications, and site conditions to identify potential issues and coordinate solutions with Project Managers, consultants, and engineers.
• Monitor project quality and ensure all work complies with contract requirements, municipal standards, and applicable codes.
• Conduct regular site inspections, toolbox meetings, and progress meetings while maintaining a strong focus on health and safety.
• Track production, quantities, materials, and equipment utilization to support project cost control and accurate progress reporting.
• Coordinate with clients, consultants, inspectors, subcontractors, and internal project teams to resolve issues and maintain project progress.
• Maintain accurate site documentation, including daily reports, deficiency lists, as-builts, RFIs, change orders, and project closeout documentation.

The Requirements

• 8+ years’ experience in Civil Construction
• Clean & Valid driving license.
• Strong communication & written skills.

Compensation

• Salary: $130,000 – $160,000 DOE
