The Opportunity

We are currently seeking a Civil Structural Design Engineer to join our Central Engineering team in Sudbury, Ontario. The level and paygrade of this role will be determined based on the applicant's experience and background. Relocation will be required for this role. This is a permanent position.

As a Civil Structural Design Engineer, you will be responsible for providing engineering services to various mines and plants in Sudbury and other Vale north Atlantic facilities. The position involves regular trips to underground mines and surface plants. The successful candidate must possess a valid driver license.

Additionally, in this position you will :

• Use structural software for structural analysis. Responsible for the integrity of designs produced under your technical direction and legally approves and seals designs and drawings as per the Professional Engineers Act.
• Provide technical direction for complex engineering designs within your area of expertise and assist and guide other design personnel.
• Conduct complex engineering studies, field inspections, and prepare relevant reports. Participate in the review of construction, commissioning, and start-up functions.
• Apply mature engineering knowledge, exercise leadership, mentoring, and training to other design personnel, and manage their work to ensure adherence to scope, schedule, budget, codes, and standards.
• Review engineering designs, drawings, and specifications from consulting engineers on assigned projects.
• Stay updated with the latest codes, acts, regulations, and technological developments in your design field.

About You

Education :

An Engineering Degree in Structural Engineering

A Professional Engineering Designation

Experience :

A minimum of 8 to 30+ years of experience in Structural Engineering.

Skills :

Strong knowledge of structural design and analysis for structures including steel, concrete, masonry, and timber.

Knowledge of mining, smelting, and refining structures.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).

Knowledge of SAP or ERP software is highly desirable, as well as experience as a Project Engineer and familiarity with CAPEX/OPEX project execution.
