Job summary

Ontario Power Generation (OPG) is seeking a dynamic Civil, Plant Engineer to provide civil engineering expertise for design, assessment, modification, and construction activities. The role reports to the Technical Production Supervisor and supports dam safety, aging management, and compliance with building codes.

The successful candidate will lead civil rehabilitation drawings and specifications, review contractor designs, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet daily business needs

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering.
• Minimum 2 years experience in a relevant role.
• Experience in civil design and civil analysis.
• Experience with the National Building Code of Canada, Ontario Building Code, CSA S16, CSA A23, etc.
• Experience maintaining hydroelectric facilities is an asset.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work in a team and manage stakeholder relationships.
• Ontario professional engineering license or eligibility.

Responsibilities

• Civil design and analysis for hydroelectric, nuclear, or thermal facilities.
• Perform structural design, assessments, inspections, and evaluations of hydroelectric structures.
• Prepare drawings, specifications, and scopes of work for civil rehabilitation projects.
• Act as Owner's Engineer, review engineering documents for quality and compliance.
• Support Dam Safety Programs and Engineering Change Control processes.
• Assist aging management and inspection programs for structures and coatings.
• Coordinate with NOC, OBC, CSA standards and cross-functional teams.
• Provide contractor design oversight and collaboration with vendors and stakeholders.
