Responsibilities

• Inspection of installed structures and related civil work through all stages of construction and/or repair to ensure the work is completed in compliance with Client Standards, designs, specifications, and quality requirements
• Conducting quality assurance inspections of civil works, such as underground duct banks, ditch infills, dike construction/modifications, pilasters, culvert/bridge installations and various concrete structures
• Write detailed reports, including pre‑job meeting guide, daily inspection report, non‑standard report, photos, marked drawings, and civil completion certificate, submitted within 24 hours of completing the inspection
• Hold pre‑construction meeting with the civil contractor to review the design drawings, Client standards/specifications, and site at the start of the project
• Identify non‑conformances during inspection, document, and communicate non‑conformances with the Contractor
• Act as field delegate of the Client's Designer and/or Professional Engineer, performing field reviews and coordinating field‑related design issues with the Designer/Engineer

Requirements

• Minimum education of High school diploma. Preference will be given to candidates who hold a technical diploma, trade certification, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Minimum of 10 years' experience in civil underground infrastructure construction
• Experience inspecting civil underground infrastructure is an asset
• Registration with ASTTBC as an Applied Science Technologist or Certified Public Worker is an asset
• Ability to read structural/civil/utility drawings and interpret the information with respect to impact to design/construction drawings
• Intermediate MS Office and computer skills for email correspondence and write professional reports
• Well‑developed planning and organizational to coordinate daily schedule and organize project files
• Well‑developed communication and interpersonal skills in English
• Must be willing to travel and work outdoors in all weather conditions on construction sites
• Valid driver's license and clean driver's abstract
• A clean criminal record check
