Job summary

CapWest is seeking a skilled Heavy Equipment Operator to support excavation work on Vancouver projects, including Tsawwassen, South Cambie, or Pitt Meadows. The role requires operating excavators, bulldozers, and compactors, with a focus on safety and efficiency in dynamic construction environments.

The ideal candidate has 3+ years in civil construction, a valid BC driver’s license, and the ability to differentiate soil types.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of civil construction experience operating heavy equipment.
• Valid BC driver's license.
• Knowledge of site grading concepts.
• Ability to differentiate between soil types.
• Self-motivated with the ability to plan ahead.

Responsibilities

• Operate excavators to strip material and load into haul trucks.
• Excavate ditches and stockpile with proper slopes.
• Operate bulldozers to grade soil in lift thicknesses.
• Use vibratory drum compaction equipment as directed.
• Work near existing utilities.
• Operate street sweeper for road cleanup.
• Perform pre-operational checks and routine maintenance.
• Communicate via 2-way radios on site.
• Assist with occasional labour as required.
